I think he’ll probably just stick to doing his job 😂 Good for him, I’m sure that’s what people who worked in apartheid South Africa did, concentrated on their job and then closed their eyes to the issues surrounding them…… I’m sure it is what most did, yes. Let me be clear, I am very much against the systematic destruction of Palestine and have made that clear on here before. However, the vast majority of people will justify not getting involved. There’s a lot of systemic corruption in UK politics at present, so I’m assuming you are out there campaigning night and day to solve it, right? He’s gone there for a job. I admire people with the courage to stand up for what is right. However, I don’t just expect people to do that and I don’t think less of them for not doing it.

It’s up to him and his conscience, he’s free to make the choice (unlike like those Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank who will be his new neighbours)……..

I think that most people on here would decry the treatment of the Palestinians. I just wonder if all of us who were Anti Apartheid think that the average Black South African has benefitted from our efforts. Likewise the Zimbabweans. I'm not sure The Iraqis,Libyans and Syrians have done too well from our attempts to play God, but I'm sure that won't bother the self-righteous among us,

I think we should spare him the virtue signalling. He's going to work in Tel Aviv for a football team, not a construction company building settlements in Judea.

But I look at a very rich country like SA being turned into a failed state by the people I supported and I can't say that I feel blameless. The Palestinians are reputedly very bright people and are actually feared by most Muslim countries, so hopefully they would make a success of the country if they did manage to acquire it. However I am not totally convinced. The poorest people in the world live mainly in Muslim countries and Palestine didn't develop much in the hundreds of years that the Jews didn't control it. I'm sure the Jews wouldn't have succeeed there without the massive American funding they received, but never the less there are better job opportunities for Palestinians in Israel than in Egypt, Yemen or Lebanon. Personally , I wasn't impressed by the Palestinians demolishing the Very Few settlements that were returned to them by the Israelis, even tho' I can understand why it happened.

Not sure how Zimbabwe, Iraq, Libya and Syria fall under the same category?

Giving citizens the freedom to govern their own people doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll get it right, I accept that. But living and working in a country that is annexing large swathes of land and contravening international law, that’s not for me. Delap is free to do as he pleases of course……

I wouldn't live there myself and the annexation should be stopped and reversed. Certainly it seems Israel wants the entire area for a Jewish State. It should be made clear by their backers that that is impossible. It would have been cheaper to have bought the Land the Israelis occupy had it been available for purchase and there was an owner to buy it from, but I still think that there would not have been peace there anyway. I think the States surrounding it are more fearful that it is a successful Democracy and an example to their own people of what might be possible in their own countries.

Rory is a SCFC legend, a nice guy and a big boy who can make his own decisions. I wouldn’t personally move to work in several countries of which Israel are one but we’re all different.
Professionally I hope he succeeds, I hope he ventures out and sees what’s going on in his new country of residence as well and maybe speaks up about it at sole point but that’s up to him……

Personally , I wasn't impressed by the Palestinians demolishing the Very Few settlements that were returned to them by the Israelis, even tho' I can understand why it happened. Good post! Historically, Palestine was used as a geopolitical chess piece by bigger states like Egypt in the 60s, which definitely contributed to the longevity of the issue. It's a different world now, pretty sure UAE and even Saudi have become neutral to Israel. They mostly all just hate Iran these days! Iran who backs Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. Also, as much as Palestine has become a super fashionable left wing talking point, I think anyone with a brain (or a daughter or wife) would rather live under an Israeli government than Hamas. Palestinian Authority, though certainly less evil, seems to be fairly useless too. I'm not a poster boy for Israel either though, and the current demographic/government setup there seems much more hawkish and hostile than it ever was before. 15 years ago a two state solution seemed almost inevitable, and now any kind of solution looks impossible. Very sad! PS Apologies to anyone who is angry about such a long non-football related post. Let's go back to speaking about all the great signings we made!

Back to the subject of the thread……my favourite Rory moments were his throw-ins that resulted in goals against the arseholes making the garlic cruncher try to outlaw long throws. Then the reducing of Gomez, the spurs keeper, to tears of fear & desperation.

Not to mention teams kicking the ball out for a corner rather than a throw in!
