Heard that it's Alicante area and possibly using Elche's training ground Both Preston and Sunderland played lower league and non league teams away pre season - Salford, Tranmere. Blyth Spartans, Bamber Bridge. Whenever AN used training camps pre of mid season he fixed up friendlies out there. Eg Sunderland played Rangers (Abandoned - floodlight failure) and Roma when in Spain. 🤞 they actually announce it before they play the games 😞 |

Why do the club take so bloody long. Just tell us where we are going so we can book our flights! Expect an announcement about 1st July, (not 1st June) so you can pay top dollar for your flights and hotels. An announcement sooner rather than later would greatly help us all to plan this trip accordingly After all, don't forget at the last supporters council meeting it was stated it would be announced Asap - I notice no timeframe was disclosed so expect the usual mushroom management from the club, sadly |

The Supporters Council From the last council meeting minutes ( April ) the next meeting was TBC 18th. May if the meeting took place hopefully the question was asked .. tho believe Spain was still being finalised last week ..there’ll be other games of interest too of course . , im as keen as anyone for info , but have a degree of sympathy and empathy with the club ..their first concern is the team , then avoiding fans making wasted journeys if as often happens plans change 1 or 2 saddos turning up at some god forsaken back of beyond cows field only to find cows on it * is one thing ..300 Stoke arriving in Spain only for the game to be cancelled another ..imagine the scenes , fallout , calls for heads to roll and woe is me compo claims * That actually happened for an end of season game in Jersey during Balls day .. the main ground on the island was being used for a cattle show |

More concerning is Bradford are also one of a number of clubs going to Spain ..they too are selling packages .. with the proviso that buying one of their packages ( 3rd party ) is the only way to watch the game BTW The sunderland packages aren’t that much to write home about .. as they don’t include the air travel |

Nello told me on Thursday that we'll have a pre-season friendly v Notts County - info apparently from the Notts County chaplain (like you do - or rather like Nello does  ). He didn't know whether it's home or away. Time will tell whether that's correct. |

Aside from it being nice to go somewhere warm and sunny in Europe, I’d much prefer them to say local and get some hard yards in. We’ve spent too much time in previous pre seasons sat in air planes swanning around for non effort friendlies and then always start the season undercooked. Get them running uphills, working hard and playing not too far away like Oldham, Derby, Shrewsbury and put that time wasted travelling to good use.

It didn’t seem to matter in the Hughes era when we were finishing 9th in the premier league, in fact the heat would probably make the training harder - leading to fitter players |

Whether it be transfers, having a recruitment team in for the transfer window, or just basic crap like knowing where next season will start, Stoke always seem to dally. |

Pre season should be about fitness and game time not spending hours travelling. It’s hardly like we can say previous trips away have worked and whilst I get how nice it is to go abroad and the excitement with a few beers in sunny climates for fans, that will be irrelevant if we hit the ground running and bag double figures of points after the first four or five games…..then you will see excitement. |
