Tentatively mentioned by the Sentinel today that pre-season will be somewhere in Europe...in July with details to be announced soon.
A heads up for those who may be interested as there's been some great trips in recent years and there's nothing like following your club abroad. Hamburg, Cork and Leipzig being particularly great excursions (That narrow street in Leipzig with every bar filled with stokies enjoying themselves having great crack with the locals was briliant)
Weather is normally good, beer is better and you tend to get to visit some obscure place you wouldn't normally.
It would be nice to see the club get the details out ASAP so people can start to plan, dare I say even help fans to go and support the club, get some positivity going into next season.

Time will tell if ‘Europe’ would be purely a training / team bonding camp or include game(s)
Managers tend to be creatures of habit .. for the World Cup break we went the same place AN had sorted for Sunderland .. for pre season AN took Sunderland to Portugal for two games , tho I believe one was abandoned due to flood light failure and the other played in the morning to allow for a same day flight home ..be interesting to see if he saw that trip as successful enough to repeat
Over umpteen years of pre seasons / friendlies etc Portugal one of the few European countries I’ve not see Stoke play in ( others are in the East )
As always pre season a waiting game

Would love a friendly in Holland v Ajax, or Vitesse Arnhem would be class..
Ajax for the social aspect & aside from the match I do have a soft spot for Ajax. & wouldn't mind trip to Arnhem as have links there.

Let’s cut to the chase before people get carried away
Stoke City aren’t in the premiership anymore so we won’t be playing away v Seville, Ajax or any other major club in Europe unless it’s at the bet365 or on a parks pitch in the middle of nowhere …..why?, because we aren’t a crowd pull or big enough anymore
We will ( if it happens ) play the likes of Cork or Duisburg in their stadiums as we step up early doors and build up more v league 1 and league 2 clubs back here before we MIGHT just might play a premiership club in our final match at the bet365
Either way they are great trips

It means the friendlies have even less point than normal. |
