Because the stripes are thicker so more white is already visible in each segment apparently. Same reason we had no white panel on the back last season as our stripes were thicker. Presumably the names and numbers will be black, in which case it makes zero sense to have the panel. Having said that I haven’t bought a football shirt since I was 15 due to the fact that I’ve been an adult for 26 years

I was apprehensive about Macron at first but they've provided us with some cracking kits over the past few years We’ve got Macron for another 3 seasons after this. The club seem to love them. Have we signed a new deal with them then? I thought the deal ended after this season?

Because the stripes are thicker so more white is already visible in each segment apparently. Same reason we had no white panel on the back last season as our stripes were thicker. If that's a fact then I would say, that while I like the narrow stripes, a preposterous white dust sheet on the back to too high a price to pay for them.

Very stylish. I’m quite hardline about stripe width so from a trad perspective they’re too narrow but I suppose one has to accept some base level of experimentation and the design itself looks great. Big dumb white panel on the back is a major bummer, but even with that they’ve tried to minimise the damage by doing faded embossed stripes to give a hint of continuity.. it doesn’t work and sort of feels like an apology, but I find it kind of sweet that they’ve tried. Everything Macron do shows they genuinely care about our kits and put time and consideration into getting it right for the fans (not something you could say about the bigger brands we’ve had) Overall 7 on 10. Could have been a 9 but loses a mark for the back panel and a mark for stripe width. 2/10 from me. I'm not a fan of the thin stripes, or collars on footy shirts. I much prefer this seasons home shirt. Looking forward to seeing the away kit.

I quite like it and the thin stripes. In some ways going a bit left field I’d make them even thinner (not pinstripe) Though I’d prefer stripes on the back it’s obvious why they’ve gone the route they have with the possibility they’d have to change it further down the line. I’d like the badge changing though as it doesn’t represent the area like a kiln or knot would. 7/10 from me. Any idea when the aways out. Same style in black and green would look ace with black back and white numbers.

Got my shirt yesterday.
It's very nice, and I noticed the stripes on the back panel are sort of embossed in. I really don't think it looks bad at all. Really like it, even more so now I've got one in person.
High hopes now for the 2nd and 3rd shirts.

The back panel ruins a perfectly decent shirt.
I suppose we did ok when we had a red backed shirt.

Yeah that Vale shirt - large people will look like demented bees with those horizontal stripes. Players should look alright, but I've never been a fan of hoops.

I don’t like this year’s because I’m not a fan of so many stripes. It reminds me of the 03/04 shirt, and then there was the mid 80s one that was true pinstripes. So maybe every 20 years or so we forget that the pinstripe (ish) kits are more polarising than traditional shirts.
Ultimately though I’m not sure it’s too important. It’s nice when the kits are bangers and I’d say we do pretty well generally in that regard. Certainly in recent years. But I can also remember some kits I hated from periods I enjoyed. Our home and away shirts in 08/09 were monstrosities but that season was an amazing time to be a stoke fan.
