Absurd not to give him games now Even if the intent is to sell or loan, puts him in the shop window If the intent is to loan gives the player opportunity to show what he can do in games rather than training

Think it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t fancy him. The fact that the clearly finished Jagielka is in ahead of him proves this. It’s just shit management then and he needs calling out for it. What little I have seen of Taylor gave me real concerns about his lack of pace, but I also thought the same about Souttar. If AN prefers Jags ahead of him it says something serious about either Taylor or AN.

This was reinforced today. No it wasn’t Jagielka was a joke. Absolutely woeful.

We were warned that Alex doesn’t like the kiddies. He has no problem playing Hoever regularly and he's slightly younger than Taylor. Maybe he just doesn't rate Taylor.

Hoever isn’t just a very good footballer he’s a superb athlete. I’d say that only Tyreece could get anywhere near him for being the fastest in the squad over a short distance. He has amazing acceleration.

The near post runs, the attacking space and being first to react have all deserted him, I can't knock his work ethic though, I just don't think it's enough and 3 goals all season backs it up

If he was allowed to put that energy into getting into better positions rather than closing down the defence on his own most of the time then he would bag more. We’re in need of a striker for sure but I think if Gayle was used more efficiently then he could still do a job, maybe not for us…

I agree re Hoever but my point was that not playing Taylor has nothing to do with his age. Neil just doesn't rate him it's as simple as that. He'll be sold in the summer.

That might be the case no one knows so we speculate over it. As I said higher up I'm easy with it if that's what he's decided. If you listen to the problems AN was talking about that we encountered by bringing Jagielka on yesterday Taylor is going to cause you similar problems his whole career. He might get better and be able to iron some kinks out of his game but I can't see him ever being anything other than slow and that dictates how you have to play. Maybe AN just doesn't want to be dictated to.

Was probably MoM tonight.
He was ok.
Just needs to work on playing the ball sooner but not helped by a midfield that hid.

I thought he confirmed all the doubts about him. He's not quick, doesn't win enough headers despite his height, his tackles are quite weak, he is quite good with the ball at his feet and carrying it forward but can't pass forward. He was a big disappointment to me and looked very shaky and nervous. I was one who couldn't understand why he wasn't getting more time but I'm sorry to say I'm seeing why Neil doesn't trust him against better opposition when a team who had managed to score just 34 goals made him look out of his depth.

Slow, ponderous and rarely made a pass other than sideways or back. A couple of turns out of defence to get himself out of the shit, followed by yes you’ve guessed a sideways or backwards pass. For someone so big he also managed to get bullied and turned in several occasions. Never a championship standard defender in a million years. He’ll be sold in the summer to a league 1 (pushing it) or league 2 side.

He won plenty of headers. He cleared most things he had to clear. Wigan posed absolutley no threat and he looked fine. He didn’t spot 1 forward pass either and that was it 🤣 Easily the best Stoke player tonight.

It’s a tallest dwarf contest if ever there was one. As for Taylor himself, I thought he looked clumsy, uncomfortable and just as crap as the rest really, but with the caveat that he’s you g so hopefully he’ll learn from it so I’m not going to be too harsh with him for that because no fucker seemed to make his life any easier tonight.

Let’s just say if he is in out starting 11 next year then there is not a cat in hells chance we make any progress and most likely go backwards. He doesn’t have the attributes physically or technically to be more than bang average at this level at best and more likely an absolute liability. He is like a Poundland Souttar.

Think the words’ Ponderous Giraff’ were used near us and pretty much spot on. You can see he’s never going to do this division. Too slow all round.

He’s better than Souttar already at the same age. Will he make the same progress from that point? Who knows. He was fine last night though.

I hope he does progress and playing in a team of senior pros turning out as woeful a performance as last night was no help to him. However, in no way could his performance be described as fine. He was hesitant and slow on numerous occasions and while a couple of times he did look to bring the ball out of defence rather than just lump it it was to no effect. If he played like that for a team against us nobody would be shouting go out and sign him.

I suspect that was his first game of competitive football this year. A player of his age can't be playing so few real games.

Some people seem almost desperate to write him off. He's not the finished product yet but I think he is a good prospect and good enough for the Championship, however it may be that he needs another loan in the short term.

What do people want him to do with the ball when every midfielder hid all night behind a Wigan player? If anything he held on to it for far too long trying to look for a forward pass when nothing was on. He should have passed it sideways more imo because it was getting him in to potential trouble. But it was more of an issue with the complete lack of movement ahead and the lack of bottle from the midfield 3 to want the ball.

Don't dispute the dross ahead of him but nothing we saw last night would give anyone seeing him for the first time any inclination of a good player. We have to hope the summer overhaul gives him team mates to help his development but it is at this stage more a hope than an expectation.
