If next season was starting tomorrow with this team, you do wonder where the hell we'd finish. Everything just seems to fit As it is, it's all up in the air come May. Frustrating. Grr. Yes we have looked like promotion challengers in the last 3 games and the settled team looks very very good. Sadly the team will have a totally different look next season, hopefully we can recruit qaulity to replace the key loanees who ahve made the difference.

I absolutely fucking love this team. Alex Neil has bought the fire back, bring on satdee Absolutely. Don’t care we’re mid table, let’s just take every game by the bollocks and see what happens with everyone behind the team. We're all disappointed that we've only drawn with one of the form teams in the league. I'm sure I heard them say when they were jizzing over them before kick off that they'd won 7 on the spin at home. Well stick that up your Ayresome Park.

And therein lies the issue. There’s a high probability 5 of those outfield players tonight, arguably the best 5 (Campbell aside) won’t be here next season. Hopefully we can replace them like for like. Some I think we will. Pearson and Smallbone, not sure. I thought Laurent was good.

Carrick seems sound in fairness. Not giving it the Mowbray bollocks, just telling it how it is.

We are currently on around 60-70% ppg rate. That puts us on 82 or so come the end of the season, quite often clear cut promotion. Wudda, Cudda, Shudda of course. Let's hope we can keep who we really like, but it shows that Alex knows a good player when he sees one and his huge turnover in Jan had a real method to it. It bodes well.

Outstanding improvement and performance marred only by pearsons weakness in possession . Great credit to the manager for the improvement , we deserved to win tonight but it’s a another indication of how much we’ve improved It was an elbow in the face mate. And a head injury but the ref didn't stop it. Every other spurious head injury he blew up and gave a foul. Oh apart from the other elbow in the face on Tuanzebe on the edge of their area. Pawson was absolutely rank. He was rank but Pearson died by the sword he yields refs see the play acting as per Millwall and thr weakness in the challenge it's an area he can improve on and will as he's clearly not as Fit as he can be

Nice comment from Neil, a thinly veiled criticism of Mowbray. “ not bad for a team that doesn’t like the ball” good stuff

That starting 11 is a keeper, left sided forward and striker away from being a promotion chasing team. Really impressed tonight. Surely you mean right sided forward? 🤷♂️ I though Campbell was excellent, the other two meh! As someone else said earlier exchange Akron for Brown or Gayle and we are right up there

You can’t blame the fans for voting with their feet over the last few years but what a turnaround in the last few weeks. Hopefully fans will once again start to come back and get behind the team

For me Pearson doesn’t get elbowed in the face & threw himself to the floor knowing he had made a mistake.
The pen on Laurent - Not for me. Laurent puts his leg into their player looking for it. I’ve seen them given but it would have been a soft one if given.
The ref was crap but he got these 2 decisions right for me.

Out of all the managers post-relegation, Alex Neil inspired the most confidence
He delivers a team of attacking, aggressive football and I must say, the players looked so composed tonight.
On another night we win against a team who've won 14 out of their last 18 and away from home to boot
👏 Take a bow Mr Neil

How good is it finally having a team that attacks. 4/5 players in the opposition box looking to score. Bit different from O'Neil reign, where we were lucky if we had one in opposition box

Failed to give Forss a second yellow too Correct. And I thought the first one was verging on a red as well. Was late but he pulled out of clattering with studs up or anything like that in my memory. I thought yellow was right for that one, but any non-shite ref might have given a second yellow for such a cynical foul later. The ref really was wank.

We had more possession, more shots, more shots on target, better chances, and more corners. By any measurable metric we were the better side. So how was the xg for Boro so much greater than ours?

Hmmm. With the peno the ref missed it might look more realistic. There's a little clickable map on this site that I like. McNair's miss was about 0.23 xG but I would have expected more because it was such a good position. Brown's header was about 0.35, which feels about right.
