He's claiming the offer was nudging £1m. If true, presumably in a mad scramble for available players, post-Souttar? But if it is true, you think Neil would take him in a heartbeat if he was convinced to put that fee down for someone 6 months away from becoming a free He probably is, but on a free and seeing the utter chaos slowly ensuing at our club, is Rose or anyone else happy to come to Stoke in a heartbeat? I think we need to strap ourselves in for a long and difficult summer. I don't think it's going to be as easy as some of us think it is. What chaos? We are correctly clearing the decks and doing it at absolutely the correct time. What is the alternative? Decline for another 7 years? Any ambitious player will be very interested in a new project especially after seeing we were one of the best teams in the division during that 6 week period at the end of the transfer window.

Ryan manning would be a good left back signing, he’s on a free after his Swansea contract expired

I'm not sure it's the right time, even though the situation we are in is natural given the contract situation. We might have more money to spend but have a hell of a lot to do with it. I'm not convinced we'll have the budget to spread that quality across the entire squad. The chaos is what is happening in the club. Academy coaches leaving, short on first team coaches, no head of recruitment etc. It's not exactly screaming "Come and play for us and advance your career". We very much have the look of a club at the start of a 5 year rebuild. Are we confidently saying that our budget is that much bigger that any potential signing can look beyond that and take the plunge or is it more likely just a little bit bigger that a player would rather take a bit less for a bit more security and stability? Time will tell but I'm not convinced yet. The noises coming out of the club are very mixed and have been for 6 months or more. The current status to me is screaming "behind the scenes chaos".

Sounds like we would have had a good chance with Sterling if Rangers hadn’t come in. Frustrating but you can’t blame him for choosing a four year deal, European football and a decent chance of winning some trophies.

I think that any ambitious player would look at the season as a whole. Another bottom half finish, ending on the same points as Huddersfield (who were dragged out of certain relegation by Warnock), and one win in the last ten games. That probably overrides a six week purple patch. 😅 It will be a massive sell to get players of the right calibre down here this summer. This is where the manager and recruitment team need to earn their money.

They took the chance on him. They have given him two more years of development. He always looked tidy but didn’t look imposing. Now he seems to have that.

Meaningless trophies and out of Europe by October does not constitute a good move. Big club but Scotland is a graveyard.

He has the games v Celtic and 2 games v one of the poorer European sides a season to look forwards too. Take them away and he’s looking at teams who are the equivalent of or are worse than league 1 standard. The move won’t improve him as a player. Still it was nice of him to say some good words about Stoke.
