Wonder what happens to Souttar now? Will he stay & be part of their Championship adventure or be deemed worthy of another move to a Premier League Club like Collins did moving to Wolves from Burnley?? Although Leicester were poor I bet he never imagined being relegated back to the Championship on the final day of the season when he signed on with Brendon Rogers back in Jan. I don't believe he's good enough to play in the premiership, you need pace something he lacks He’s more than good enough to play in Scotland

The parallels with us and Leicester are frightening. Power and control suddenly handed over to an incompetent son, hang onto a failing manager for too long and employ a complete failure and one ill fitted to the task at hand.
Now for part two. Employ a manager that has never achieved anything in his career and hand him a fortune to spend...

He’ll stay there, will be on a decent contract and I can’t imagine many suitors based on his performances so far. That said he will probably be one of the best defenders in the championship next season so maybe a move further down the line. Got to feel for him really Perhaps it’s not the worst thing in the world for him. He’s still young and will now get a full season in the Champo to develop further, out of the spotlight of a Prem relegation dogfight which he probably wasn’t quite ready for, especially so soon after coming back from a bad injury. Then assuming things go well, he goes back up with them or gets a Prem move with more experience under his belt and he’s more ready.. Do we have a sell on clause?

No idea but I’d have assumed it’s normal practice for a young player?

No chance. They signed a ready made very good Champo defender. He’ll be good for them sadly.

They deserved to be relegated the day they sacked Rogers and replaced him with Dean Smith.
What a fucked up decision that was.

So it appears Souttar is linked to Celtic via the Brendan Rogers connection & a fee of £15mil has been mentioned. Probably suit Souttar as he'll be back in his native Scotland & will be playing European football. Anyone know what % of a sell on fee we'd have included in his transfer. May recoup some of what Dundee United had out of the fee we received for him from Leicester.

A sell on fee is only over and above the fee what you receive ….so if we received £15m and they sold him for £15m or less we’d get nothing

Convinced Rodgers would have steered them away from trouble Think he had to go but they really should've had a better plan than Smith. They probably should've binned Rodgers sooner, not sure if they could afford the payoff though. Good manager but when it's over it's over.

I think Souttar was at Rangers European final, he a massive fan. Not sure if that would mean he wouldn't join Celtic.

Next best thing to seeing him in a Stoke shirt for me. Rangers have got hardly any chance as it is of winning the league, with Harry at the back for Celtic they would have no chance at all.

There are 2 types of sell on
Percentage of the next transfer Percentage of any profit from the next transfer
.. I'd suggest we have the former.

Convinced Rodgers would have steered them away from trouble Even if he hadn’t, you’d think he’d get promotion easily enough. I know they’ve taken Pep’s assistant, and probably expect great things based on Arteta and Kompany… but that’s ignoring the fact both of them took 2 years of management to find their feet.

I know they’ve taken Pep’s assistant, and probably expect great things based on Arteta and Kompany… but that’s ignoring the fact both of them took 2 years of management to find their feet. It was very similar to what happened with ourselves and Hughes. A previously successful manager who had lost his way and run out of ideas and needed replacing, but was kept on for far too long because he had 'credit in the bank' from his previous success. Despite all the evidence on the pitch saying that the problems were terminal and it needed fresh ideas to turn things around. Then by the time the trigger was belatedly pulled, it was too late and all the best new managers had either already moved to other clubs or saw relegation as too much of a risk and didn't want to risk having a relegation on their CV. So we ended up with Paul Lambert, and Leicester ended up with Dean Smith. Very similar uninspiring, barrel-scraping ex Villa managers who were desperation choices and change for change's sake because no one else was available but they had to be seen to be doing something to placate the fans. When in all reality, keeping hold of Hughes/Rodgers would probably have been better than appointing Lambert/Smith. (Before anyone says it, I'm not saying sacking Hughes was wrong. Just the timing was wrong, it should have been done much earlier to ensure a stronger choice of replacement manager and to give the new manager more time and the January transfer window to fix the problems. In hindsight, having left it as long as January and with Lambert seemingly the best we could do, we may as well have stuck with Hughes at that point).
