It’s surely no coincidence that we’re unbeaten in the 3 games he’s played in since his comeback,7 points out of 9 and long may it continue

I’d make him skipper.

Unfortunately I can see his time at stoke coming to an end very soon as the prem teams come in after his world cup performances

Best player in the squad without a doubt.

Unfortunately I can see his time at stoke coming to an end very soon as the prem teams come in after his world cup performances Well you couldn't expect him not to want to take such an opportunity so we'd just have to hope we could reinvest the fee to do something to improve our prospects.

Yep and it’d stick a few more quid on his value.

He’s probably in the top 5 players in the division. Lucky to have him and hopefully we can keep him until the end of the season and then still get a shed load of money for him. It also seems to me that since he’s come back, he’s learned a bit more on the gamesmanship side of things. He seems to be telling people to slow it down when they need to, and dishing out bollockings too.
He just seems to have gained that extra something, whatever it is. He appears to be absolutely on it.

The wheels came off to a point under MON when Souttar got injured, we’ll continue to improve if he stays fit, that’s my take on it.
I think he’s that important to us in terms of steadying the ship defensively, but also playing between the lines and getting us up the pitch quicker…….

He certainly needs to be back in the centre of a back 5 if that's the formation we are playing. He looked a little uncomfortable on the right to me today. He is vital to us though and the defence is a far better defence with him in it.

If we play 3 at the back I'd go for Taylor...Souttar...Fox. I know Jags can still do a job, but he is 40 FFS!

We desperately need a decent left sided CB and a regular number 1 in January. Bonham is fine as back up and Bursik needs loaning out .

Need more mobility either side of Souttar. Wilmot is fine for me either side then you're looking at maybe trying Clarke at RCB which I don't like but without bringing someone in I'm struggling for an alternative. Fox needs moving on, Taylor needs grooming to replace Souttar which is likely to be all too soon as big H's reputation grows.

Maybe Flint would be glad of a move being as he's not getting on the pitch. As I've said in another post I'd be grooming Taylor to take over from Souttar in the centre when the inevitable happens. We could really do with a far more mobile, quicker, ideally LCB.

I also prefer a left footer on the left side. Taylor isn't quick, but he is a good defender reading the game well. Wilmot on the other hand seems to have everything in his locker, but makes so many bad decisions. I think he almost makes one or two crucial mistakes in every game he plays. Because of this I don't trust him any longer. Could Wilmot do a job as a defensive anchor in our team?

Ideally I'd only want to play Taylor in a 2 or the centre of a 3 as I want much more mobility from the L/RCB's. I'd be pretty happy with Laurent as our deepest midfielder with Thommo as an able deputy or even both sitting in a solider team. Wilmot could/should have already have been tried there when we've been desperate for a more combative midfielder but he hasn't under either manager therefore I doubt it's ever going to be tried. You can't see AN not trying for Pearson anyway if there is the financial wiggle room.

Agreed. He's the one player in the squad that the others should aspire to be. Australia are one of the few teams that went toe-to-toe with Argentina and came away with their reputation in tact. Souttar played well. Every Stoke player should be looking at him as a shining example of a Championship footballer playing above their station. Whether our modern crop of footballers are wired up that way, who knows?

Wilmot is a decent footballer, but he has one or two decisions every game that too often cost us. No, I don't trust him either as he doesn't seem able to get rid of this part of his game.
