(Won’t hold my breath!) Consultation period for 6 weeks starting Monday at www.stoke.gov.uk/transportstrategy

To paraphrase '... Will need funding from central government...'
We can talk about this all day but it will never happen as central government will never commit the money needed

They'll still be discussing it in 30 years.

Stoke gov website says the transport consultation starts Wednesday 19 Oct. in terms of funding …… the Coates family have been making billions from peoples’ unfortunate habits over the years, why not request their involvement, surely 100 million wouldn’t threaten their lifestyle and would be a rather decent legacy for Peter to leave behind? (Maybe one of the lines named after him, similar to the Elizabeth Line on London’s tube system?) Or even John Caudwell could chip in 10 Mill and have a station named after him?

It would transform the city. Until I see the diggers moving in though I'm sceptical, the amount of projects in the city that get talked about but never delivered is frightening......

Feels like we're missing a trick by not having the southern line have a route that goes passed the stadium in some way.

Green BET365 trams would be quite cool enough they obviously wouldn't want to just chuck money away because of their wealth. Would be a great idea for the city but the demise of the shopping areas makes it a bit less practical but would obviously improve with the project. Cauldwell talks a great donation, idea in the press but seems more to get his name out there. Would the tram go anywhere near the stadium?

They did some work in Tunstall and discovered that the old tram/train lines were still on the high street just buried under the tarmac. Dig them up and refurbish them jobs a good'un

If it works out cheaper to do it in partnership with Coventry why not include Newcastle and make it cheaper still?
As others have said tho, it won't be happening anyway.

Get it built!
The taking of Shelton 365 could be a good future movie.

The Southern Line looks like it follows the route of the A500 & rail line through Sideway.

I'm no engineer, but wouldn't getting a tram up Limekiln Bank be a bit of a challenge?

I'm sure Newcastle would want in. Apparently not. Bit of a missed opportunity, I think. "We wanted to go for an integrated transport authority with Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle and the Staffordshire Moorlands but the neighbouring districts didn't want to do it."

A shame, would have been good to extend it from Tunstall to Kidsgrove

Be cool if it went through water like the log flume at Alton Towers to make the journeys more interesting.

Im surprised they wouldn't use the mothballed parts of the biddulph and churnet lines to expand it to leek. The track is there, if overgrown, and surely can be bought back into use. It would be ideal to take people to alton towers.

Getting Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-u-Lyme to co-operate on anything is akin to Ukraine and Russia solving their differences! Very frustrating!
