Just don't get it. Surely getting people out and about and actually marking the passing of the monarch is preferable to everyone being cooped up with the same thing on the first 25 channel's?
How is stopping Stoke fans watching their team play shite and witnessing an oddball manically playing with the zip on his gillet a 'mark of respect'?
Could actually understand it if the funeral was on the Saturday.

I can understand some things being cancelled, but the one I read which I just don't get and one her majesty surely wouldn't want is that the London stock exchange will be closed for her funeral, fine, it possibly for a few days after which will cause the uk to lose billions of pounds. Can't believe I've read that.

Today, Thursday, September 8 The Queen’s Private Secretary has called the Prime Minister and privy council. Ministers have been notified too as are heads of commonwealth nations. Flags will be at half mast within 10 mins of the announcement. BBC Networks merge and local radio will switch tone Both Houses of Parliament will be recalled Liz Truss to hold an audience with new King Charles III. He will make a state address. The Prime Minister will be the first government member to issue a statement. Funeral plans will be announced National minute’s silence announced Friday, September 9 Charles proclaimed King by the privy council. Parliament to meet to agree message of condolence and tributes from MPs. Parliamentary business then suspended for 10 days Prime Minister and cabinet to have an audience with the new king. Preparations for the funeral begin. I’ve just spent a 2 hour journey back to Manchester from Rugby literally as the announcement was made, wall to wall radio stations blurting out the same cliched garbage.
If that’s a taster of this weekend without any sport and with wall to wall coverage I think I might book a flight to somewhere in Europe for a couple of days……..
