He's a nice, tidy technical player. Having him alongside Baker gave some balance until we started shuffling around the midfield three. He desperately lacks aggression and physicality, though. That wouldn't be a problem in other teams, but it sticks out like a sore thumb in ours. Second sentence every day for me. Honestly don’t know what folk saw that impressed them. The midfield just hasn’t functioned since the Blackpool game without any real physical presence yet again. He wasn’t the type of player we needed but there again he’s in good company with a few of our other Summer signings.

As the years go by I appreciate Glen Whelan more and more - what our midfield could do with the support he used to provide.

I thought he was neat and tidy. Tried to keep himself involved in the game. However, he is so lightweight that opponents were blocking him off and knocking him off the ball with ease.

Use this squad properly and you'll fly up the league, regardless of injuries it happens with every team.

Like a few of our loan players, he arrives with limited experience of first-team football, today was the first time I saw a player who could move the ball quickly, vary his passes and put an early cross in, very bright, hopefully will improve with games

However the aggression and sheer ‘in your faceness’ that he provided is exactly what is needed never mind the leadership and never accept defeat attitude he also personified.

Thought him and Fosu were our best players today. And neither of them are our players. If that’s doesn’t sum up where we are I don’t know what does. It literally sums nothing up.

Nobody's mentioned the forearm smash he received which went unpunished because the linesman standing two yards away didn't see it. Plus the referee let play continue despite an obvious head injury. Is it a coincidence that our only win and best performance came when a good exPremier ref was in charge? Probably because it wasn’t one. The player put his arm across his face there was no smashing involved. Right in front of me he raised his arm and moved it backwards into Kilkenny's face. He was even rubbing his elbow as he walked away. You don't lift your arm to shoulder height to try to block someone unless you are fouling.

The guy I go with made a good point in that the bloke was a foot taller than him and was just shielding as most do, it was just unfortunate that it happened to be head height for Kilkenny.

Well it caused serious damage. I thought rules and cards were there to prevent that. The referee/linesman didn't even see it as a foul. In fact I think they thought Kilkenny was faking as they allowed play to continue. I thought it should be stopped immediately for a head injury and there was no excuse for not doing as it happened on the halfway line.

Accepted but he still moved his arm back to make sure he connected. I seem to remember Peter Crouch being pulled up all the time for 'fouls' which were mainly due to his height compared to others.
