Not a good gate compared to others. Boro had a decent gate, even Bristol got 27k. When did we become smaller than the likes of Bristol City? Not easy, if it undermines season ticket holders but I think the club should incentivise fans to turn up, do whatever they can to make it easier. Yeh they need to make mnoney to invest in the team to attract the fans but the re fans, the more refreshments and merchanidise sales, ideally a better atmosphere if winning, which attracts more fans that generates more income and profile to atact better players to attact more support. I kust think they could nuture and feed a bit more to reap more reqards. I'm a hypocrite because I didn't go but we whoud be aiming for higher gates if we have ambitions

Looked like there was barely 20,000 in there. I think our crowds are holding up fairly well 5 dismal years after the Premier League. They're better than they were in our promotion season and far better overall than before promotion. And hold up fairly well against our competitors. Middlesbrough is a one club city so are always likely to get more than us. Bristol is a much bigger city than us and over the years we've generally beaten them for crowds. Considering we're the smallest two club city in the league we do pretty well and still averaging over 20,000 after 5 very poor years reflects well on us fans. If the promise of this start turns into a good season it won't be too long till we're going over 25,000 on Saturdays. |
