I've got a good feeling about this season. If we get off to a good start like we have the past 2 seasons,I think we will maintain it.

Without at least 2 additional strikers and a decent goalkeeper we are mid-table at best

Yep, that’s what I said 🙂 I know what you said, I'd like to know what it's based on other than your own wishful thinking? Not wishful thinking, just my opinion. If we’re lower / mid table by the half way point, I think they’ll just let him ride his contract out then replace him in the summer. I don’t think they’ll pull the trigger unless we’re in disaster territory, otherwise they’ve got to pay him up AND pay a new manager, which I think they’ll want to avoid given our financial situation. I really don’t think the board will have told him it’s shit or bust this season, despite what us as fans are saying.

Last 4 seasons tell you that a bottom half finish is more likely than a top half one. A few signings here and there isn't going to change that.
Can't see us finishing any higher than 10th to be honest. Not enough desire among this lot to want to get promoted, nor the ability to do so.

We will be relegated. Think anything else and you are likely to be disappointed. If you don't really believe we will be relegated and are saying/thinking it out loud for another deeply rooted reason, then that is an act of psychological self-vitiation to such a degree that I'd suggest taking up something less painful to think about. Before you try on a pair of new shoes is your first thought 'these are bound to hurt'? I'll be honest, probably since the first iteration of pulisball, I've gone to the match expecting us to lose as a defence against disappointment. It works but I've reached the point where I don't know who we're playing from one match to the next I've given up giving that much of a toss since suffering that idiot Jones.

He's been given a tough brief: Keep us up, spend little, offload expensive players in the hope season 23/24 you might be able to spend Despite his initial success it's been pretty toss and uninspired. If there is any truth in my speculation you can see the constraints he's under but I just think a better manager would of still pulled off more in terms of points and progress He has and I don't think anyone would argue that. My issue with him is that when he first came he had to win games so we played like that. We haven't played like it since. And in that time we've made the squad better and have better players. There was no need for his attitude to change and in turn the intent of the team changed. Make your mind up. You've been gobbing off for ages about how Michael O'Neill has made our squad worse 😳

There's no point in discussing it. He just keeps arguing with himself when there is no one else available.

I'm not sure I've ever been more unexcited. Our business has been pathetic and frankly how the manager has retained his job after last season is beyond belief.
Hugely concerning times. The sooner the manager situation is addressed, the better.

Now, you are not going to argue with bayern's judgement, Are You?

Before you try on a pair of new shoes is your first thought 'these are bound to hurt'? With shoes though you are in control of that. With this, we have zero control. So if you think the worst then it hurts less. The pain of thinking good things and then them not happening is far worse than vice versa. If it was something I'm in control of then it's totally different. I can't imagine going to a match and being miserable before the ball is even kicked. I mean, I don't believe we'll win every game, I'm not daft or self-deluded, but I do enjoy the thought that we might play well or defy expectations. Similarly I put on a pair of shoes in a shop hoping they will fit, or why try them on?

We've done more business than I expected. We're in the Championship, still dealing with FFP - not like we're going to run out and sign Neymar and Courtois. Hearing some on here totally ignoring FFP makes me even more thankful that the club keeps it front and center.
Example: A striker in this league that actually scores once in a while? Good luck outbidding everyone else for that overpriced unicorn and that's IF you have the room within FFP and they stay healthy for a whole season in this grind.
You have to develop your players for the most part, then you can flog them to some nut in the PL with money. Pretty much been the "Championship Business Model" since FFP began. Collins is a good example - you can either get sentimental and try to 'Mel Morris" your way around FFP or realize it's time to capitalize for the longer-term.
A decent window thus far, given where we're at. But then again, I thought we'd done well last time.
Almost like an annual outing, it's become a tradition to let my hopes build up only to be crushed during the season. Then I can come on here and piss & moan. So we go again.

When people say it's been "a decent window", I don't get it. What's made it a decent window? What makes you confident this will be any different to the previous few years of dross and that these new signings will make us a top 6 side?

Decent window - finally sighing players in midfield who can play defense. Had to address the Allen situation and move on - we've done that. Sprinkled in a couple of prospects as well. They may work out, they may not.
Given the constraints we're under financially, I'd say it's been decent so far. You never get everyone you want. But signings alone aren't going to win us the league, getting the players we already have healthy and firing will be all the difference I think.
