Here we go ... "Two Steps Twice", it's proper going to go off when the break comes ... I'm going to watch them at Castlefield Bowl in Mcr' on Wednesday. Tickets were initially bought as a treat by Mrs Clams for my 38th birthday. Gig was cancelled twice due to the plague and it's now a 40th birthday present 😂 Wet Leg are the support too 💪 World of Twist not available?

You do get it. She's overrated. Her songs are weak, boring, typical and forgettable for the most part. Never understood the hype. If you don't like her fair enough, she's never going to riff your face off but she's a breath of fresh air in a "Love Island" dumbed down youth culture. Bright talented and clever. When you see her live she's intoxicating, it's a big stage to fill at 20 and I thought she did a good job. I've got nothing against her but her music is about as interesting as Love Island.

They split up in 1993 and one member has been dead for nearly 20 years. That's why it's only permitted to state that it was the early 90s when you* saw an improbably monikered act supporting them. *Me. I mean me, obviously.

Thankfully the rain has held off so far. Anybody you're looking forward to watching? Confidence Man have just destroyed the Park Stage (I've no idea how Janet Planet can keep up those dance moves and sing at the same time!) Just now flipped over to the Other Stage to watch Fist Aid Kit. Really looking forward to Foals tonight ... ….. told everyone not to miss Cinfidence Man. They were awesome in Townsville pre-COVID-19

Probably uncool to say, but Sam Fender and his mates just fucking smashed their set. I don’t mind Sam Fender at all, thinks he’s pretty good actually for a nipper! Nipper? He's 28. At 28 Weller had been and done with the Jam and was nearly done with the Style Council, Bono was beyond the Joshua Tree snd McCartney had split the Beatles. Meanwhile Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin never made 28. I quite like 'young' Sam but he ain't no 'nipper'.

Re Billie Eilish.
I just listened to 4 of her biggest hits whilst having my morning coffee.
They sounded to me like insubstantial little ditties recorded as demos on a cheap laptop in her bedroom.
If that’s the material she’s got to work with then I have to say she made a pretty good fist of it last night!

Not really one for watching Glastonbury, I'd rather be there than watch on tv, not least because all those bleedin flags are a pain in the arse!
However, I think Paul McCartney's set is almost compulsory viewing, for the quality of the songs, their iconic status and in a last chance to see kind of way (may he continue in good health for many years, obviously).
And maybe next year, they could get Elton John to do something similar, as he continues his never-ending farewell tour! (Although he's apparently not well at present).
It seems fitting for the UK's biggest and best-known festival to be graced by these icons of British pop culture. Not to everyone's taste, I know, but there are plenty of other stages showing less mainstream offerings.

Not to everyone's taste, I know, but there are plenty of other stages showing less mainstream offerings. I've always thought music is about how it affects you. I'll enter into debates about what's 'good' and 'bad' but at the end of the day if 'The Birdie Song' is what makes you want to get up and dance then go for it - there's enough misery in the world not to. 'Icons' are the same. McCartney has never really been for me anyway (unless he does 'The Frog Chorus - obviously) and I won't watch Diana Ross either - I don't want to watch what - to me at least - seems like some old girl who really hasn't got it any more mime songs she could once sing like an Angel. But I certainly won't be condescendjng towards anyone who does. It's your watch and your pleasure. On the other hand BBC2 recently aired Bowie at Glastonbury from the early 00's. Now to me that WAS iconic - I could watch it every day for a week and still want more.

What's people's thoughts on the Idles? I watched a bit of their set last night and coincidentally the last time they played Glasto and find them fascinating to say the least! Can't bloody understand a single word of any of their songs mind!!

At the festival and its been fantastic as usual but I definitely feel this is one of the weakest lineups for many years. I suspect its post Covid fall out disrupting bands usual touring schedules.

Who’s playing then? I don’t take any notice anymore as the headliners are usually either past it or modern drivel. I do like Foals and would love to see them at a festival.
Tonight:
Foals headlining the Other stage from 10.30 (we're going to see them at Castlefield Bowl, Manchester this Wednesday).
Billie Eilish (youngest Glastonbury solo headliner ever - aged 20) headling the Pyramid stage.
Primal Scream, who I'm pretty sure have played Glastonbury more than any other act (pretty close with Van Morrison and Elvis Costello) headlining the Peel tent.
Screamadelica is still one of the best albums of the last 40 years for me. Did Bobby turn out for Jesus and the Mary chain as well, just for a bit of nostalgia?

My better half is there helping a friend out and working in a kids play tent. She has been to Glastonbury a few times and loves it but I’ve always avoided even though I live half an hour away. Too big for me. Enjoy watching on TV but happy going to gigs and my small festival in Dorset, the End of the Road and the Green Man in Wales. Perfect size and good roster of artists.

Can't bloody understand a single word of any of their songs mind!! They're not for everyone but for me they're one of the best live bands in the world. Been lucky enough to have seen them 5 times and they've been brilliant every time. Best starting with 'Joy as an act of Resistance' then 'Brutalism'. 'Ultra Mono' their 3rd album was a bit of a duffer but their last album was a big return to form.

My children made me listen to the Olivia Rodrigo LP on a recent family holiday, so she’s not completely new to me.
Not a lot to see here though you can certainly tell she has an Irish mother.

A tight group and performance for ones so young. I hope when she is older her songs with life experiences get a wider range.

Olivia Rodrigo really should have been on the Pyramid stage instead of AJ Tracey today. You can tell OR learnt her trade at the Disney Stage School rather than paying her dues down the Dog & Duck. Can’t say I haven’t quite enjoyed it though!
