Why? We need money. We have a back up keeper. Makes way more sense to sell if he as expected wouldn't sign a new contract. It depends upon the fee we'd get doesn't it? He's an U21 keeper who is otherwise pretty inexperienced, and the reason he's not got more experience, is because he hasn't been good enough to nail down the No1 spot, in the face of stiff competition from Gillingham's former 3rd choice 'keeper. I don't think we'll be troubling FFP with any fee we'd get. So we let him go on a free instead, what am I missing?

I'd still hope for maybe £1.5m-£2m.
Which is not to be sneezed at.
I am struggling to think where he may end up as a No.1 though.
There aren't many 21 year-olds with 80-odd league appearances and England u21 caps knocking around.
And the fee would be a throwaway for a Prem team , or even first-year parachute teams
Who would buy him and play him though - no idea. Definitely not a Prem team, and almost certainly not a parachute team - as a No.1
So then we're into the kind of situation where he needs to be loaned out again after he's bought and viewed as a project, which he presumably doesn't want.

He played the vast majority of their league games (44 out of 46 the season we got him). He likely left because we were interested, not because Gillingham could do better.

I’d like to think that he will sign a new contract and be sent out on loan to a Championship team in desperate need (not sure if there are any) or a league 1 team. He needs more games, but he isn’t good enough as No.1 if we want to push for playoffs. I agree, I can’t see anyone with a better chance to go up/better league than us using him as No.1, so he’d just be in the same boat there.

But that doesn’t change the point that he hasn’t been able to nail down the number 1 spot with his only competition being an average at best League 1 keeper. No matter how you paint it, it’s a poor showing on Bursik’s part.

You're right - he'd played 70-odd games over 2 years. I still think, back to my original point, that the fact that Bursik's failed to displace a very, very average 'keeper in Bonham, doesn't exactly make him hot property. If we got £2m for him, which has been mentioned, we'd have done very well, and we should cash-in.

That would be very very good business atm for us, he’s currently valued at £1.25m, based on Bayern’s logic, a team could just offer us a cheeky 600k and we might be like, better than nowt 🤷🏻♂️ and with each week that goes by that amount just keeps getting lower. Then as Fuller says - who’s purchasing him, gonna be bottom Chanp/top League 1 - none of which have any money, and Bursik would more than likely be like..’ actually I’d prefer try fight for a number 1 spot here thanks’

I suppose that really depends on how adamant they are about it though. Players change their minds on such matters all the time. If he turned around and stated, “I’m not interested” then we should get rid. Anything else is more of a grey area.

There's no doubt clark will be joining to be number 1, he's a good keeper and he's expecting to break in as Scotland's number 1 in the next season or two. So Bursik must be off. Which is best for all concerned, I think Bursik will be an excellent keeper and I don't know why the manager didn't just give him every game last season

Glasgowstokie - have you seen Clark live and if so is he a vocal keeper in respect of commanding his teams defence. Stoke now seem to have keepers who do not command the defence but a certain one whom just hand gestures after we concede a goal or a one on one.

www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/zander-clark-handed-transfer-timeline-27369294Dundee United hope Zander Clark will become one of Jack Ross’ s first signings. The Tannadice club have pushed the boat out and made a lucrative three year offer to the Scotland squad keeper. The former St Johnstone No. 1 has just arrived back in Scotland within the last 24 hours and United are looking for a quickfire answer. Clark met with United Sporting Director Tony Asghar before he went away on honeymoon. The 30-year-old has interest down south, including Stoke City, but so far nobody has put a firm offer on the table.Ross is happy for United to seal the deal if they can, even though it was set in motion under previous boss Tam Courts.

I don't think we'll sign a new keeper this summer.

Way more than that even - he's averaged over 40 League One games a season for the past 4 years, plus cup games. But yeah, the time many were saying Angus Gunn wasn't good enough seems a long time ago. Krul and Gunn is an excellent lineup for Norwich next season.

So the St Johnstone local paper reporter still thinks he's coming here.
He's back off his honeymoon so should be sorted soon one way or the other
Wonder if we can't get it done before Bursik departs? We can't stockpile keepers.
And where does Bursik go? Guess we'll soon see, if anywhere

Aaaaannd - him staying to the end of his contract wouldn’t be nothing… it would save us the money on buying a replacement to be used somewhere else. It would cost us more to get a replacement atm than to have him stay and fill the spot. Anyways…. This is all just complete hyperbole and I’m offering some alternative possible outcomes as to what you’ve suggested Bayern, this doesn’t need a retort or your constant conversing and any further “but”s…. but I’m sure you’ll want the last say as per usual non the less.

Doesn't sound like we're ruling out an addition? www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-bursik-bonham-7279055Holden said: “ As we stand now in week two we’ve got a good goalkeeping department working with Rousey (David Rouse). It’s important that every player in every position in the squad that the place is up for grabs. It’s the only way you can get the best from an individual. In recent experience from last season, Jack came in the team and Joe dropped out for a period and took it well. He got back to working on more basics in his training week.

Bonham should never have played as many games as he did last season - selling Davies was understandable but we need someone who will be a fixture between the sticks - the chopping and changing with Bursik last season really affected any consistency we may have sought to build.

And that should be all positions not just in goal. Pressure makes diamonds and the same should apply to the players if they can’t deal with competition then they won’t reach their potential.

I was impressed with Bonhams ability in claiming the ball he commanded his area well something Joe could improve upon. Sorenson and Bego were both good at that and it was a big weakness of Butlands which in turn put more pressure on him.
