Frustratingly, the Athletic story doesn't give any steer on how likely we are to seal the deal above others. But hopefully the Rory link could be the key, rather than a potential negative. If he wasn't oprn to being coached by his dad, it wouldn't have gone this far. I am a bit confused why they haven't let him out on loan already as he's about as close to getting Prem minutes as Liam Gallagher, with Haaland, Alvarez and all their floaty false 9s. He could have done with being settled somewhere before the opening day. He needs a season of lots of 90 minutes somewhere, and that's not going to be in the Prem. So hopefully we've got as good a shot as anywhere, with the Rory link tipping it our way. They may be waiting to see which teams are shaping up better, will help our chances massively if we start well.

Given that we’re the ones namechecked in the piece I’m hoping we’re front runners, especially with previous attempts!

Do Man City really need him? I know he’s very highly rated but they’ve got Haaland, Alvarez and Kayky.
I guess they’re waiting to see who they want to keep of Kayky or Delap?

Makes no sense.

When you read about the £40 odd million the MC academy has earned in the last few years you'd think that Delap could easily double that with a decent full season behind him in the Championship.
I honestly think MC can't really lose. They've turned down £19m from Soton so they either have a £30-40m asset after a year or a first team player.
The only question is, which team/coach would you trust to add a minimum of £10m to his price tag?

Substantial loan fee involved? Different times but didn't we pay a few million for Zouma. £7m for Zouma apparently Along with £6M+ for BMI and £15M for Wimmer. All the Arnie money spent on CB's and replaced him with a free transfer and loan for a bloke who used to play for Real Madrid and was intent on kicking the arse out of it for the rest of his career. Then they wondered why we got relegated.

To benefit Liam the most you'd expect Pep would want him around his team as long as possible, have a full pre season with man city then loan him out later in the window.

He was with them for the whole of last season and was in training for half of it. Pre season isn’t worth a game of proper football.

Makes no difference if he's injured or recovering from injury when the windows are open which is what lead to him being there all season. He'd have been out on loan if he was fully fit.

Apologies if I misunderstood. Zouma at 7m is well known. Ludicrous sum of money for a bloke who could lose the man he was supposed to be marking in a phone box

This is dragging on & on, either they keep him or loan him, if it's a loan then crack on and sort it.
