I post as Chair of the Stoke City Supporters Club, which, as many readers will know, used to run periodic programme sales and fairs, but these have not been held for a number of years. The stock of programmes was placed in a storage room at the Bet 365 stadium, which has now had to be cleared by Stoke City as part of the Delilah's refurbishment scheme, and we have to find a home for them.
I have superficially examined them. They are in about 20 or more plastic boxes, perhaps averaging 50 per box, so there could be in excess of 1000 programmes, but we have not counted them. We have not catalogued them, and do not have the capacity to do so. They include, as you would expect, home and away Stoke City programmes, and also programmes from other clubs and matches. I have noticed programmes going back to the !960s but it is possible that some are from earlier dates. We simply do not know how many date from different years, or how many fall into different categories.
We are willing to sell them as a 'job lot' to the highest bidder on the condition that the purchaser is able to arrange and meet the costs of collection and removal within a short period of the sale being agreed, to meet the timetable demanded of us by Stoke City. To that end I am requesting bids by noon on Thursday 7th July, by email to malcolm.clarke@thefsa.org.uk.
We appreciate that the offer is very vague on the content of the stock but we simply do not have the capacity to investigate them further to supply more detail. It will be for any potential purchasers to take this into account when making a bid. We also understand that football programmes no longer have the value they used to have.
