It's Whitehead who was the Olly replacement. Olly scored a thumper against Everton and chested one over the line against Arsenal but was otherwise dreadful.

Selling him to Villa without him being made aware it was happening is a very poor show indeed! Whether people thought he was good enough or not, given his loyal service and the amount of games he played that kind of behaviour is sign that something was going haywire within the club.

I didn't think he was very consistent until we brought in Nzonzi which seemed to transform his whole game.

Consistent and most importantly knew his own limitations.Every team does indeed need a Glenn Whelan in the middle.
