I have a few Reading supporting mates and they are gutted he's leaving, him and Rino seemingly carried their midfield... I am being funny but I’m not 😂 it’s a genuine question that I don’t know the answer to….why were they so shit? Edit - “they” being Reading

Looking at his career appearances on transfermarkt and he's played in every position apart from full back... ... direct replacement for Tommy Smith it is then! Or keeper 😁😁😁 Wonder if he’s good at saving penalties

We’re so pissing this league this year. If O’Neill doesn’t shut up shop and keep fucking about with the formation

Now we're fucking talking, mates with Ty from his time at Shrews. Fast, physical and exactly what we need.

Edit - “they” being Reading Seemed to pick up quite a bit under Ince, maybe the talent was there but they just werent playing for the previous manager Laurent sounds encouraging

With Laurent potentially signing and having already secured flint will this see us go to a more direct style of play?? I really hope we don't get Mons version of pulis ball

Is it because they’re two totally amazing footballers and the other nine are Uber shit? West Ham finished 16th in 1966-67. Harry Redknapp later said: We had Hurst, Moore and Peters and still nearly got relegated - imagine how crap the rest of us were.

People forget that we signed Huth and Tuncay from a relegated Middlesbrough. They weren't too bad were they?

Seems a pretty logical question to ask if we're signing two lynchpin first-teamers from a team that nearly got relegated It does but you know how it works Bayernoatcake, that’s a totally illogical logical question for a serial keyboard warrior as yourself, the illogical answer to your logical question is that Laurent stood head and shoulders above his colleagues at Reading and almost single handed saved them from the drop, it wa a no brainer that he’s top of the list of championship free transfers, you also have to take in his footballing pedigree, I mean having a father that captained France, what a player Yves St was ! Hope that was logical enough.

Well my impression of Reading is that they couldn't score. Seems like...another club has struggled with that problem?
But looks like they had a -33 GD as well. Wow! (MON would have had a heart-attack)

And Powell (our biggest attacking threat) will just be sitting on the bench? Beginning to wonder if he may start up front. Didn't he play there for Wigan and do a good job? Would be harsh on Brown but it's been rumoured we're after a bigger forward, we might already have one. Again, this would be crap. He’s tall and decentish in the air. That doesn’t make him a target man. He plays best in the hole between midfield and attack. Play him there.

Plenty of formations don’t allow for that role. Target man is not his best role but as things stand he’s the best target man we’ve got. I hope that situation changes.

Then we should be playing a formation (3-5-2/4-2-3-1) that allows us to play our best player in his best position. Man City aren’t likely to play Haaland on the left wing very often next season.
