Just looked him up on Wiki. Hardly ever scores and had an injury at Hartlepool a few years ago.
Typical shite signing

And Powell (our biggest attacking threat) will just be sitting on the bench? It's a fallacy that Powell can't play that wide forward role in a 4-3-3, it is his not his best position but he's more than capable there. In anyway we need a squad not just a starting XI so let's see what evolves over the summer....... We do need a squad, correct. Good thing that we have Thompson who can be a reserve to any defensive midfielder that comes in. Powell may be able to do a job out wide, but it’s a poor job versus what he can do centrally. You start with the starting 11 and build out. We’ve suffered for too long by putting square pegs in round holes. Powell is a 10, one of the best in the league as a 10. Play him elsewhere and suffer because of it, especially given that we have Brown, Campbell, Doughty and DWP to cover the wide positions.

Why would you play him wide when he’s better in the air than any of our strikers? Plus if he won’t sign a new deal I’d be actively trying to sell him.

And Powell (our biggest attacking threat) will just be sitting on the bench? I think his theory is that MON is going to play the kind of 433 he played with NI and that Powell doesn't fit into that. It would be absolutely shit and largely devoid of creativity if he did do that, but it can't be ruled out. Yeah it’s not a midfield 3 that seems the best balanced.

Looking at his career appearances on transfermarkt and he's played in every position apart from full back... ... direct replacement for Tommy Smith it is then!

It's going to be fascinating which target man type striker we end up with. Add Byrne as the right back and maybe another winger and it's been a pretty good window.

Pretty sure it’s the lad who was outstanding for Shrewsbury v Liverpool in the fa cup It is the very same lad and he's big mates with Tyrese as well.

Fuck me stinks of Mark Hughes and the Joe Allen experiment Laurent will surely be playing alongside Baker with the old 1 stays 1 goes mantra and Powell causing havoc in front of them. The 'one stays one goes' thing worries me a bit - has that ever actually worked? Not since Bryan Robson hung his boots up. When proper midfielders existed, there was no such thing as a CDM. Proper midfielders do everything.

Proper midfielders do everything. Think there were still sort of prototypes of them, wasn’t Nobby Stiles that kind of player? Was before my time but I know Ray Wilkins got called ‘the crab’ a lot as well. Don’t make them like Robson anymore though agree - good for 15 goals a season but capable of crunching people too and was absolutely everywhere. Top player.

He was at Shrewsbury when Tyresse was on loan there wasn't he? (Sure that's where I 'know' him from. Looked decent then albeit at that level. Didn't realise he'd gone to Reading. We all await bayernoatcake 's verdict of course before endorsing him wholeheartedly. Yeah him and Campbell are decent ish buddies, looking at a far (TC insta)

Beginning to wonder if he may start up front. Didn't he play there for Wigan and do a good job? Would be harsh on Brown but it's been rumoured we're after a bigger forward, we might already have one.

Sounds promising. What we've lacked for years is recovery pace in midfield, someone who sits in and plugs the holes when things aren't going well.
It's says he's fast, is he a sitting player? I hope so

I have seen a few Reading games on the box and have always been impressed with Laurent. If Stoke get him, he would sit in front of the back line. He has tremendous energy and often gets forward. Fingers crossed
