In which case the UNHCR and EU might like to cast a critical eye over their system, whereas they seem rather pleased with it. At least in respect of what the UK is proposing which they certainly seem to think is inferior. Letting white skinned people arrive here while excluding non whites is racist. Sending those people to a place like Rwanda with no hope of return is also racist. Hitler did similar. It's really simple and you know it. It should make no difference on skin colour, if the person enters the country illegally or without passport/paperwork they should be detained or transferred to Rwanda until its proven that it is a legitimate claim.

Any colour illegal migrant, economic refugee, or refugee without family that they can stay with in the UK until their application is approved or rejected should be sent to Rwanda? Sorry mate, no idea what you're trying to say here. Makes no sense.

France is well over 100% larger country than the U.K. and Germany nearly 50% bigger. Not sure what the numbers are, just saying it’s likely to be a factor Germany has roughly 9 times more asylum seekers than the UK. Over 1.2m........ Make that more than 10 times the amount, more up to date figures released......

I ask because I’m interested in seeing that data broken down by year; it looks like the data is a cumulative number over a number of years. I’m wondering if that German number is so high because of the big jump in immigration they had in 2015-2017 per Angela Merkel’s strategy of that time. Not that that effects the low UK number in anyway, which is miserly by any measure.

And if you're happy with that criteria as a benchmark (which it seems you are as you've raised it) then the UK should be taking approx 1.3m rather than 175k so there's nothing to moan about really is there?

Unlikely to be the former, quite possibly the latter. Prep school, boarding school, Trinity College Dublin and Cambridge might also suggest a degree of entitlement that manifests itself in shock at daring to have his views questioned by someone with facts. Got quite the unpleasant history, so no surprise he earnt a good living at the Daily Mail under Paul Dacre... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quentin_Letts

I suspect he went on thinking he was going to utter some smart arsed wise cracks but was “ambushed” with a good question that he was incapable of answering without contradicting himself which meant he went into full bullshit bluster mode. Or to put it more succinctly… he’s a complete twat.

He's not thick - but he's not as intelligent as he thinks he is - (ie more intelligent than anyone else - especially someone of colour or a woman). It's an approach almost guaranteed to make you look a complete arse when you believe your 'superiority' will always put you at an advantage over someone who's bothered to prepare and you haven't.

It was a perfectly legitimate and (importantantly) an extremely pertinent question. To ignore it because (I can only assume) it didn't fit his agenda, made him look like a complete fool and/or ridiculously arrogant. It's absolutely an important question - one that is all too frequently ignored, sidestepped or just not even understood throughout this debate by those who wish to justify a hardline approach under cover of faux humanitarianism- ie it's for their own good/it will save lives/it will deter the gangs. This of course, conveniently ignors the fact that our asylum procedures almost force people into the hands of gangs as with very few exceptions you can only apply for asylum once you have set foot on British soil - and in most cases there's no legal route of reaching British soil in order to seek asylum. Catch 22 I can't believe he doesn't know that - but he would never admit it and I rather doubt he expected to be pressed on it because on most of the news programmes I've seen (which admittedly is not all) it rarely gets mentioned.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62566194'UK ministers who backed sending asylum seekers to Rwanda were warned by their own adviser that its government tortures and kills political opponents. ' And even worse, they're trying to bury what they knew ... "On Tuesday, the government asked the High Court to rule that the case should not include 11 specific comments about Rwanda from an unnamed Foreign Office (FCDO) official, who had been asked for their view." We probably have the dirtiest, most corrupt government, if not ever, then certainly in living memory.

Amazing that they were simply trying to sound tough to appeal, once again, to the dimbo dog whistle crowd and have now been found to have been lying about the safety of Rwanda all along.
