The 5 second rule sounds like a good idea but, as with 'keepers holding on to the ball, it will NEVER be enforced...except against Stoke I wouldn’t buy into the victim mentality aspect but it really gets on my tits how keepers get away with wasting so much time. Jordan Feckin Pickford.

Yes, I actually saw an official hand out a yellow to a keeper in that ill-timed Nations League competition. A yellow to the El Salvadorean keeper in the mud-match against the U.S. And he almost gave him a 2nd one later. He quit wasting time after that.
Agree with LeeSandfordsToupe - a few yellows and reds early on would should sort it.

Why don't one of these have responsibility to monitor things like this in the game. They could easily alert the ref if the goalie exceeds the amount of time and then the offending team could be penalised with a free kick. Surely that would solve it rather than it being an arbitrary time that is rarely enforced?
