Not a great day for our midfield squad development Why, because a club have signed a player we may never have had any interest in? I was livid when Messi went to PSG……

Because we lost a decent midfield player to a rival on a free , we’ve not signed a replacement and the manager reckons we can’t afford one of the ones we want until we sell someoneand that fell through yesterday too , overall pretty much a setback day in my humble opinion

We didn't lose anything

Reading between the lines he does not want to commit the money on Sawyers or Maja at this time because they are not first choice options. That's how I interpreted it anyway. I think a couple of the players he really wants involve fees so he is waiting on the sales of Collins & possibly Bursik to generate the funds. Probably João from Reading for one.

There's no proof anywhere that we were interested in this player anyway.

That's a bit of a high bar for a football fans message board, so basically we were never in for any player who doesn't sign?

We are beyond desperate for a midfield enforcer.
Not sure this guy fitted the bill.

I doubt the report of a contract offer from us on the table for him would have made it into the Sentinel without any grounds whatsoever. You're right about the second bit, don't recall seeing him play and also liked the sound of the other midfielder we were linked with more.

The Sentinel does take social media reports as stories and internet rumours so yes There was actually both a Radio Stoke reporter and a Sentinel reporter who used to contact folk privately on here even if he thought they had info and the story may be true. The Radio Stoke chap actually turned up at O'Learys for info re a rumoured takeover as he thought a certain person's family were part of a consortium with his gf to answer your question. The Sentinel took a completely untrue story re a S American player as a story a few years back from a transfer site. Was posted there as a joke as they were basically lifting stories from it.

Not in fees it’s not there both spent £1m plus this week and the managers bern very clear he can’t do that You need a crash course on the Bosman rule. The Bosman rule has no impact on the fact we can’t spend money on transfer fees because of grossly inept management by the previous CEO leaving us within mm of a FFP breach , The fact others can spend just indicates it’s possible to operate in this league within those constraints . if your point refers to we can still sign bosmans of course we can but are we their most attractive option given how we can’t supplement them with additional quality , the Leeds issue highlighted elsewhere just shows how we’ve been overtaken as a club by so many in those six or so successive years of catastrophic commercial management whose legacy will be with us for a further 5 or 10 years in my view .
