Jack Butland couldn't catch a football and had no positional sense(I won't even mention his lack of ability with his feet!) Well before he broke his ankle! He would never have been England no1! He was always shit and was a massive reason we got relegated! But he did recently save a PL penalty for the first time. So he’s got that going for him. On balance i might take a chance. We’ll get him for next to nothing and get significant money from Bursik or Davies. He’d be a decent back up for either of them. His confidence took a significant hit after his injury, which affected his catching crosses and his kicking which was never great in the first place. Davies has already flown the nest!

jack Butland might be a nice guy , but i was never at ease with him in goal i think he was highly overrated ,there was always a mistake in him, sorry but i would not have him back on a free transfer, but thats only my opinion

I'd rather take a FFP points deduction will cost us less than Butland back in goal, daydreaming about England whilst finding more and more inventive ways of letting the ball into the net.

And yeah, I'd love a keeper who can't deal with crosses and has appalling distribution. Other than that, your post is spot on.

Said before would love Darlow. With Pope going there he might be available.

It's funny ain't it as ever since he had that massive dip before he got dropped and left, none of our keepers have been that great, or even consistently solid, with the exception of Adam Davies.
Think we do need a new keeper, but not him. If we could get Darlow, or Even Brice Samba from Forest If they decide to upgrade now theyve gone up I would be happy. Doesn't seem to be a priority for MON as we've resigned Frank Fielding as third choice, and can't see us getting rid of another keeper either.

Man Utd as back-up?

Interesting if De Gea gets injured? Heaton is supposedly No.3, but I wouldn't play Butland ahead of him uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/exclusive-manchester-united-talks-sign-085112258.htmlButland is free to talk to clubs about a pre-contract for next season as his deal at Selhurst Park expires in less than six months but United have moved to bring him in immediately as back-up to David de Gea. The length of his deal at Palace means fees are likely to be nominal for a player with Premier League experience.

It is a good move for him but 2nd choice there is beyond his capabilities for sure.
Heaton is a much better option though.

They obviously don’t think that much of Heaton. Perhaps Ten Haag can wake something up in Butland like he’s done with a lot of them? For him, I hope he manages to take any chance he gets to get back to being a halfway decent keeper. For Man Utd, who cares?

But a) wages, b) hasn’t played regularly in a long time, c) why would he want to move? I think that we are much more likely to get a 2nd/3rd choice goalkeeper from a team like Brighton.

Weren't they supposed to be after Arnie last summer?
They'll be showing interest in Erik Pieters next.

For a time he looked like he could be a Real Madrid player, nevermind Man United. There's an excellent keeper in there somewhere, very, very deep down.

Only caveat to that being he had 2 bad injuries at Villa and has barely played since major shoulder surgery. He could be more Neville Southall than Thomas Sorensen but he might want to get a last few years playing having not featured for a while. If he's fully fit and physically able, Heaton could be a perfect short term addition.

I've always said third choice goalkeeper at a big club is my ideal footballing job

He'll just stay on at Manure as 3rd choice. I worked with him a few times whilst he was at Burnley. He's a top bloke and from a personality perspective, would be just what our dressing room needs.

If your going for third choice I don't mind going for fourth choice if I'm needed 😁
