I was out running on the outskirts of Audley yesterday and there's a country lane that's got a closure notice on it with bunting everywhere. Looked like a great spot for a party One house in my street, one in the next street Maybe there will be more later in the week

Delightfully free from royal jubilee stuff, union flags and the inevitable media obsession, but then this is France If you're into it, fair enough, have a lovely time.

Loads of Union Jacks and picks of HM down here. Great to see people of all ages walking around with a smile on there face. After a couple of years of misery it’s nice seeing people ready to celebrate on Thursday.

Maybe Her Majesty is partial to a length when she's in the bushes perusing the perimeter of her estate, and this is a timely manner to celebrate such a feted occasion.

After a couple of years of misery it’s nice seeing people ready to celebrate on Thursday. Nonsense, everyone should be at home indulging in self-flagellation over things that happened centuries ago. How dare people smile! Not a royalist by any means but I'll be making the most of a long weekend off work by indulging in a pub crawl and having a curry (no different than going out over Xmas as an atheist when you think about it)

Even though i'm completely apathetic towards the monarchy myself, it's cheering monarchists up and it brightens up the town a bit for everyone if nothing else, so everyone's a winner. They've even done papier mache crowns for the fucking postboxes in town they'll be wrecked by about 11.15 tonight i reckon

FFS Keith. Notwithstanding how offensive that is on a number of levels when will you learn that you can wrap yourself in as many flags as you want, you are and will remain nought more than just a useful idiot to the despicable Telegraph and its associates.

Not really my thing, and I’m not in the country anyhow, but I hope everyone has a ‘splendid’ time. Even the miserable cunts.

there’s a real excited buzz around the area at the moment. Everyone seems to be really excited about the lots of fun things like bazaars and duck races taking place over the next couple of days. Great stuff.

Hope you're not there for Bastille Day mate, what with all those flags, fireworks and air displays! This was almost a very good retort in fairness. It loses its edge a little bit is the diametrically opposite reasons for celebration. Ourselves, (myself included) celebrate our Monarchs continued reign in the form of her platinum jubilee, whereas the French celebrate the storming of the Bastille prison, triggering the French revolution and the effective abolition of theirs... I think RnWnB may feel a little more connected to the ultimate celebration of 'will of the people' rather than that of immense inherited indivudal priveledge. Personally, I have a deep fondness for the Queen and even more for the extended weekend. Long may she reign.

I'm almost certain she's already dead but they couldn't renege on all this pomp and promise, they'll release some CGI video of her saying something then announce her death next week and pretend she didn't die six months ago.
