I was at the University of Nottingham and present outside the Bell Inn pub in the Old Market Square the night Brian Clough paraded the European Cup from the balcony of the Town Hall. To that end I have always had an affinity with Forest in so far as you can with another club. On the one hand I wish them well and on the other Forest away is/was the best away game on the calendar bar none, nothing else even remotely close :-( As for Billy Sharp. I've never heard of him, but plainly the assailant should be banged up:-) You don't follow football much then?

oh dear this really isn’t good for the game on all counts. Mcburnie really does come accross as being a bit unhinged. He always seems involved in something and never in a positive way.

And some on the Summer Targets thread think he's the answer to our problems. I can't quite make my mind up if that's because he's a totally stand up guy or the zero league goals he's scored for Sheffield United this season.

I agree something needs to be done with crowds running on the pitch, maybe a deferred points deduction to come into play the next season, I don't know. The solution is to make cocaine so expensive that only respectable, super-model shagging, jetsetters like me can afford it. Do that and there'll soon be a dearth of scrotes jacked up on pub dust like this fucking cleft attending games, just leisure suit Larrys who appreciate the finer things in life. I've written to the FA with this suggestion but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Bans and even prison sentences aren’t a deterrent. They wear them like a badge of honour. What they need is a massive dose of peer pressure and the only way to do that is the way we were treated at primary school “if the culprit doesn’t own up then all of you will be in detention” soon separated the men from the boys. Either make them play it again or play at Wembley with none of their fans there. That’s stop em farting in church. They won’t think it’s such a giggle next time. So your solution is to punish thousands of fans for the actions of a few idiots? Football bans should be made more widespread if you want a deterrent. Otherwise, clubs need to put more money into stopping it before it begins. This sucks for Billy Sharp, but hundreds of games are played in this country each week with very few causing any bother.

I was one that thought having seen him at Swansea he might be what we need as he looked decent but he’s just too big a risk due to him being a grade A idiot who will probably end up in prison at some point in his career.

Close up of the assault, the cowardly bastard. Grade A fucking wanker. A reflection of some of the idiots you see in every city/town/ground up and down the country. The general answer to resolving this is parents at the very start encouraging their kids to be good human beings. Banning them is not the answer as they most likely only go to games where there’s likely to be the opportunity for an ”incident” and custodial sentencing is probably water of a duck’s back.

I was a youth community worker for many years and some children who go off the rails have loving caring parents who have tried everything to bring them up the right way, sadly with some it's just a choice they make.

Out in 12 or 16 weeks then, although he will likely be jobless and it won't do much good for his current or future relationships and he is banned indefinitely, cracking nights work there potentially wrecking his life for being a drunken knob......

It's a ten year ban from every football match! Plus as stated 24 weeks jail i.e slap on the wrist! If he loses his house, it will feel like more than a slap on the wrist. Prison sentencing is more than just time behind bars. If he had a half decent job, his life is going to be very different after he comes out. It’s much harder to find housing and work if you have a record. He should have thought about this before he decided to headbutt a random person he’d likely never even spoken to.
