With the league campaign starting early due to the World Cup taking place in Qatar during November and December, the fixture is scheduled to take place on July 31 However , Wembley is hosting the womens European Championship final that day , Leicester City's King Power Stadium, Leeds United home Elland Road, Villa Park, Arsenal's Emirates Stadium and the London Stadium are all in the running to host the game. While no final decision has yet been made, latest reports suggest Leicester now appears the front-runner - which, given it has a capacity of 32,261 www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fixture-change-man-city-23963693

Surely Old Trafford is the obvious venue?

Surely this wont make much difference to fans because most of those who attend Wembley Finals are not supporters anyway.

These games are normally well-attended aren’t they? Why would they go to a venue with a third of the capacity?

I presume having been kicked out by the women 😀 and UEFA it’s a case of finding a ground that’s not already being used by the home club for their own friendly on that date .. and hiring the cheapest venue Guesstimate , but if Leicester , both clubs will do well to get 7000 tickets for their general ( ST / members ) support . Whilst when we got to Wembley our allocation was sufficient to meet our demands , that shouldnt be seen as the norm at clubs who’s allocation doesn’t cover ST numbers , never mind members , whilst some of those ST holders who miss out give up ..a great many as well as members get there by paying in many cases well over the odds The change is simply another example of regular match going fans being screwed and left to the own devices to secure a ticket I presume pressure will now build to try to secure either OT , Villa Pk or Leeds

Womens football taking priority The worlds going bloody mad I guess it’s another recent example to promote rather than upset the womens game ..though the blame lies with the UEFA and FIFA for allocating and then moving the World Cup dates , then the FA / Premier League and EFL being late in deciding the 22/23 season dates and presumably only after Wembley had already been booked www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fixture-change-man-city-23963693

Wembley seemed half empty for the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half on Saturday. Probably the least interesting game in the football calendar this one. Have always thought its a game that devalues the kudos of a Wembley appearance a bit as well.

Liverpool got 34,090 tickets for the FA cup ..of which they’ll allocate to players , ex players , staff and sponsors … oh and a couple to fans Chelsea got the same ..then an additional 2264 ( not sure why ) it’s usually the club Wembley seats that are empty or under used pitch side even at sell out games , the dearest corporate seats tend to face the cameras , so become even more noticable

Stick a couple of goals on Twickenham’s pitch and go there for a change. Or Millenium. Old Trafford sounds fun though with it being Man City and Liverpool.

Is it really that important a game? Didn't used to be at Wembley. Went to one a few years back as wasn't sold out. They’re friendlies 2007 Man Utd 1-1 Chelsea (3-0 pens) 80,731 2008 Man Utd 0-0 Portsmouth (3-1 pens) 84,808 2009 Chelsea 2-2 Man Utd (4-1 pens) 85,896 2010 Man Utd 3-1 Chelsea 84,623 2011 Man Utd 3-2 Man City 77,169 2013 Man Utd 2-0 Wigan 80,235 2014 Arsenal 3-0 Man City 71,523 2015 Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea 85,437 2016 Man Utd 2-1 Leicester 85,437 2017 Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea (4-1 pens) 83,325 2018 Man City 2-0 Chelsea 72,724 2019 LFC vs Man City 77,565 last year ( covid ) was 45,000 .man.city don’t tend to sell out for me it’s the principle being moved from a ground that accommodates numbers ..giving occasional & die hard supporters alike a realistic chance of seeing their team at Wembley ..something occasionals / families will find difficult in the FA cup without paying 8 fold upwards over face value , bit like the Auto glass really .. we all know it was worthless , but gave us a great day ( especially the Pboro semi ) then moving that fixture to a not even well positioned league ground ..meaning only the most committed are likely to secure a ticket ( barring a boycott )

Was kind of my point, doesn't really matter if moved

Back in the good old days 😁 Flat caps as 5d to get in . I think my Grandad went by horse Definitely lost its appeal , Man City played when I went. Was in London and decided to go. Pretty sure I saw Newcastle in the Charity Shield at Wembley when Shearer had just signed or maybe getting mixed up with another game? Were Newcastle in the Charity Shield? They were well beaten whatever game it was
