Would love a friendly with Copenhagen. Great City but a bit pricey. Only a short flight away. Great people the Danes. I have worked in Denmark a few times, they love footy a good drink and a good laugh. Went there in 2004 for an England game. Apart from the embarrassing number of England fans it was a superb weekend. Met Thomas Gravesen in a local night club after the game. I have worked in Denmark a few times. Brilliant people and a great Country. UK can learn a lot from the Danes. A bit cold in winter but they copewith it with no problems. Level of their footy is probably 1st Division/lower championship "our level" but slways a pleasure to work or visit.

Am just used to them being him. Sorry for confusing you with him btw. I never see the point of folk moaning re pre season. Is nice to get to games but about fitness. Nothing wrong with a trip to Ireland. A decent drink, cool people and flame haired, Angry women. Not forgetting red lemonade soda bread and Club biscuits.

They are what they are training games for us and our opposition For me , been going friendlies since the 70s. Devoid of European football , they’ve filled that gap , over the years friendlies pre season or other wise have been an opportunity to see Stoke play in a whole host of different countries and literally hundreds of grounds I’d probably not visit otherwise .. a break from the pressures of competitive games , to be enjoyed , but not taken too seriously ..finding out about them , then getting to them is the serious part.

Know what you mean ..but to me as I do them all it’s the roll of the dice … and take the ordinary with the exotic with equal measure .. however with Russia having seemingly struck off a lot of my footie & non footie Eastern bucket list trips for the foreseeable ( or indeed possibly my lifetime ) then as above in years to come a trip to Australia / New Zealand would be good… but the dream I hanker for is an end of season tour to South or Central America ..oh for another Waddo ..now he did know how to do pull out exotic friendlies , ( especially given travel back then ) even the likes of Palin or Wicker would have been licking their lips at his tours

According to Cork City FC they are playing Stoke in the first week in July as Stoke are in Cork for the week. A decent spot if anyone is looking for a short trip. It would be great to see us take a few away now we can and it’s so close. Having done a fair few of the Germany pre season trips they’ve always been a great laugh and the more the better. Leipzig was a memory that will last a forever. Watching stoke abroad in any capacity is like nothing else. Hope there’s a few games close together and we can turn this into a long weekend to have a jolly. It would be great for the club to consider fans, even help with info on buying tickets, official coaches, meet and greets over there. But that’s asking a bit much…

I think Ireland will win indepnedence long before Scotland does. The Tories seem very keen to make it happen. Which is sad. But hey one for the Brexit thread not they’d think it’s anything but project fear 😂 Back to football - woooo pre season in Ireland

Looks like Cork is part of the early pre season. At that stage it’s more about training camp etc than a larger set piece like in Cologne, Hamburg, Leipzig & Duisburg. The main trip of interest is usually a week or so before the season when a first team will be on show. That’s the one that most aim for (including me, several times) rather than the earlier games is smaller stadia. So I am keeping fingers crossed for a trip (maybe Ireland) on weekend of 23rd/24th July. Would love Germany again, but can’t see it with MoN.

The problem with that now is many seasons across Europe are starting early so it’ll be Scottish and Irish teams I reckon as we are no longer a big catch The German bundesliga 2 starts on July 15th There’ll be no jaunt into Europe I don’t think

Lovely thought however they are more likely to be in one of those shitty tournaments in Malaysia or at Arsenal than hosting a mid table Championship team. We can but dream
