So what's the difference between someone who is "pretty angry and confrontational"(you) and someone who is tribal? Nothing much apart from individual versus collective. I don’t consider being angry and confrontational a quality or anything to boast or be pleased about. I never said I was a nice person. I try to have as minimal effect on other peoples lives as possible. Well fair play pal at least your honest... And we are all so bloody different!

I don’t but then I find the tribal behaviour of football fans in general pretty weird and the need to segregate supporters sub human. Such a fart-sniffing post lee. We get it mate, you're far too civilised, logical and intelligent for such nonsense...in reality I just don't think you're bright enough to realise that hate is the same as a lot of harmful things. It's fun in moderation. 'Hate' in any form is a dangerously thin line to tread.

You are winning three nil in a playoff final and your'e on a Stoke messageboard you sad fucking wet wipe. Why let him get to you, it's just one day in 365? You're better than personal abuse. I wouldn't of had to if he went on to the Vale board and celebrated like a normal person instead of coming on here to gloat.

Same way it does any club who achieve promotion. If it needs explaining then go do a little Google search and you’ll find the answer. Jesus wept. Can you not understand how it works? So how will a promotion from league 2 to league 1 benefit the city? You’ve not answered it

Cn we have a Vale for promotion thread next season? Because this one has had the opposite effect. Massively backfired on the OP

We are wank but they are so far behind us the hubble space telescope couldn't spot them. We're now 1 division apart for the first time in almost 2 decades. If your bum isn't squeaking then fairplay, but mine is. I don't want to play them in the league ever again. Yep, exactly this, Vale could be a division above us as soon as August next year, if that thought doesn't trouble you then you either don't care or you've lost all grip on reality.

Well done the Vale, did the city of Stoke on Trent proud today. Fabulous owners who support their team, the city and the community. Carol was demonstrating her love for the club with her celebrations. I am a Stokie but credit where it's due. There is definitely room for two successful clubs in this city. Jesus fucking wept Get yourself up Burslem tonight and celebrate with the fuckers and whilst you are there ask them if it would be good for the city if Stoke got promoted to the premiership next season or or when Stoke got to the cup final and Europe You’ve lost the plot son Fair to say there are blinkered bigotted supporters at every club, who detest other clubs with a passion and I just don't get what their problem is. I was born close to the Vale, over 70 years ago but chose Stoke as my club. I have friends and family who support one or the other and in some cases both. The rivalry is there but it really isn't anything to get wound up about. People are dying unnecessarily in the Ukraine, that's a real problem and something to really get wound up about, not football.

The lead up to and the atmosphere at games, is fantastic.

Explain it to me. As far as I'm aware the only difference is there will be a couple of bigger matchdays in Burslem when they play Derby, Sheff Weds and Ipswich. But this will be counterbalanced by a bigger police presence, more traffic/mither on Hamil Road which the tinpot infrastructure in those parts struggles to cope with (we've seen this before) and a few more flowerbeds being trashed in Burslem Park. How is it actually 'benefitting the city'?

You sure can see those that do and theose that do not. I don't live on S-o-T and I don't want those wankers 'up Vale' to win. Bunch of tossers. i live in Mansfield, to say the locals are as gutted as me, well they cant be!

So how will a promotion from league 2 to league 1 benefit the city? You’ve not answered it Playing teams with bigger away followings for a start. It puts more money into the local economy if there's more people spending their cash. If Vale's attendance goes up as a result, it means more need for stewards, hospitality etc. Football can be absolutely huge to help the city. It may not seem much, but it certainly helps.

Suggested alternative approach for Stokies who find the Vale, and their fans, unpalatable.
Don't bother with the profanities. And if you feel attracted to abuse then try something a little more original than the Duelling Banjos stuff, which could have been lifted, practically verbatim, from comments aimed at us on Blue Moon ahead of the Cup Final.
Just ignore them. Sometimes less is more.

I can see what you're driving at there... But there's a humongous difference between SUNDERLAND and the Vale.... Sunderland have a fan base to make a difference to the city, Vale will hardly make a ripple making it up to league one!!!

I didn’t specify the exact impact only to say it should result in positive impact rather than negative but yes I don’t disagree

Sunderland (huge fan base, one club city with a population of 350k) being promoted to the Championship would undoubtedly have an impact on their local economy. Port Vale (small fan base, the smaller club in a two club city) being promoted to League One might have a small impact on a small number of businesses, but the idea that it’s going to pave the streets of Stoke on Trent with gold is laughable.

Couldn’t care less about the Vale or their fans, but what a bloke their manager is! Hats off to him, must take some strength to even think straight, let alone be the main man who everyone looks to! Agree with that with what he's been through don't think I'd have the strength if it happened to me.
