I like them, everyone has them nowadays even Hanley Town had some last week. Maybe because I have seen many games over the years in mainland Europe that I've become accustomed to them but I do like them.

Extreme heat, open flame and tons of smoke in a dense, packed crowd. Yes, we live in a day and age where we have to explain to some why this isn't a good idea. And then to top that, they decide to throw them at people. Sounds like felonious assault to me. It wasn't that long ago that people were eating Tide dishwasher-pods, even an animal knows better than that. Some of the European competitions, there's so much smoke you either have to leave or suffer smoke inhalation. Those attending who deal with pulmonary issues don't consider it a trivial matter. Just another selfish "look at me" bid to get attention, like throwing beer but a hell of a lot more invasive/dangerous. Between smoking in toilets, flares and getting covered in beer my days following Stoke are over might possibly push the boat out and do the corporate bit beginning of next season. I can park close, get in early and out late so maybe? I do corporate skem, have done since the Vic. A nice day out

A nice day out I did the first match (league game) at the Brit been 3 times before, got disabled badge so parking sorted will try for early next season to check out new suite set-up. Happy memories of first match had a good chat with Sir Stan and got a cracking photo with him.

West upper seats are ok too if corporate costs might add up a bit much .. .. realistically only stand that’s the equivalent of stands at the Vic .. so no issues with people constantly standing , playing up etc .. but not the soulless stand it sometimes called on here .. if mobility issues believe use of the lift via the main entrance can be arranged ..concourse has some stool seating / tables .. early days issues of the concourse being freezing now resolved by the boarding over of the vents up high ..though believe that’s the reason why food can only be heated there rather than cooked ..so no fries ..promised upgraded food menu lasted about 2 months ..it’s standard fare , but with ( usually ) more dignified queuing , certainly no need for a survival of the fittest course Been up there from the start ( block 7 Boothen side ) as when we moved ( previously stood on the Boothen ) I didn’t fancy having a seat , but having to stand 20% of the time ..in fairness standing issues not to bad at home , and certainly better than I first thought Though believe we’re having the new seats installed in the close season ..so might be useful to check leg room etc when installed

Happy memories of first match had a good chat with Sir Stan and got a cracking photo with him. Yep he used to pop in and sign stuff. A lot of the non playing players did looking for a spare seat as didn't fancy sitting outside on colder days. Hoekstra and his wife a few times, Spanish seem to remember. Stan Matthews used to get into a pub in Haslington a lot, not sure why. To eat not drink. The Hawk think was called. Knew someone who worked there and she said was in a few times with family and or friends. The catering gals always have some great stories, John Gayle and his shenanigans on CCTV at the Vic did the rounds with a rather older lady from the catering crew. Old enough at the time to be his mum and a few years. 😄

So what's the difference between that and letting them off in the concourse?

That was felonious of me to associate our Felonious with felonious behavior. Could have been seen by some as acrimonious rather than harmonious. But blathering on about it would become sanctimonious, tedious and eventually odious. And now back to our airplay of Thelonious Monk's "Straight No Chaser." Funnily enough it was based on a misspelling of Thelonious (Monk). Felonious my old friend Step on in and let me shake your hand So glad that you're here again For one more time Let your madness run with mine Streets still unseen we'll find somehow No time is better than now Yeah to me it was always Thelonius, I never even thought about it! But hey, I tried to think earlier today and nothing happened... But yeah, Wow [where's my exclamation mark? Dang it Duck! Quit hoarding them!!] Great post because you jarred my smoke-filled memory! Might be a good motto for next season. No time is better than now...

I think a few glade air wicks were nicked from Wilko in Hanley before the game ‘fresh linen’ And I’m certain I know know what happened to them

Defintely a few banning orders coning off the back of the Coventry game.
Throwing them into a crowd of people is completely moronic and deserves a lenghty ban.

Can someone clarify for me.
Is it illegal to be in possession of/and or use a flare in a ground?

Can someone clarify for me. Is it illegal to be in possession of/and or use a flare in a ground? Yes to both. There is a lengthy discussion on this very subject a few pages back actually. Quite topical at the moment.

I don’t think it would be to hard to find the blonde Evertonian lady wafting that blue flare around.
Lovely long, lingering close up of her on septic tv here.

I do wish people would stop called them pyros and flares. The phosphorus burns for maybe 1 second before cold smoke comes out (use them at paintball often)
Have no place in the hands of a supporter. Would like to see a profesional display using them after a goal, somehow directing the smoke away from fans, as to not cause any issues with those with respiratory issues. Not sure how though!? But more thorough checks should be made to prevent supporters from sneaking them in, easily stain clothes and are harmful to those with respiratory issues. This is coming from someone who enjoys the look of them too. Leave it to the professionals and after a thorough risk assessment has been completed.

I think the big butch scouser at the Everton game with the flare can expect a ban, especially considering her fat face was plastered all over tv across the world.

I'm not a particular fan of them but this sounds the dullest sanitised solution of all. I'm sure round Europe where they have been a thing for years they don't have discussions about people with asthma, etc. I agree only a daft cunt would throw one but, come on, most are at worst a mild irritant

Plus I’m sure you’re aware how much more ‘snowflakey’ in the UK especially when compared to your Marseilles and the like.

I agree with the “don’t throw them” point but I honestly think it adds atmosphere to grounds.. look at the Frankfurt game Thursday night! Amazing scenes and we see that all over Europe! I remember being told I couldn’t take a flag into stoke when I was younger… heartbreak! With the shite football we get served up most weeks the only entertainment for me has been watching the “idiots” with their smoke bombs and bottle throwing - much better than watching what they’re failing to do on the pitch 😂! Our ground is lifeless and library like most games, by taking what little atmosphere we have away it will be as boring as a shift at work
