The interesting remaining one is Vrancic. All the others look very likely to go. Powell could yet be an interesting one as well, who knows? I expect one of our talented youngsters to be sold.

Don't think we've really got any saleable assets as such, have we? Souttar won't get until he's proven his fitness. Probably a bit early for Baker. Not sure there'd be interest higher up the food chain in Tymon. And Brown won't go. Suppose the interesting one could be Bursik. No idea who'd be in for him though.

Which one, Tymon or Brown? Souttar's injury will put clubs off so he's here till January (might be difficult to keep him then) No one is buying Campbell atm or Bursik

I don’t think any of us know the exact figures do we? Broadly speaking we cut our losses and sold him for roughly the same as we paid. Roughly speaking we lost money on him.

Its a lot of money in our current position. Give over £300k will get you nothing 300k is 300k, its a lot of money when you have to be tight on your budget. There's plenty of teams in the league that have done better with that or less this season, it was a poor signing and lost the club money, I don't know what his signing on fee was, if any, so I won't try and lump that on too.

Not sure many clubs will be spending £2.5m-£3m this summer. The only other club that were in for him were Cardiff, and they couldn't afford anything like that fee

It's not as straightforward as that. Plenty of those were make-dos until hopefully younger and better were available. That really doesn’t wash when Huddersfield can sign seven players on frees or for nominal fees and finish third. Helps when you are financially able to get rid of 12 players (some big earners) and 9 loans. Due to the damage done by Rowetts shopping spree this summer is the first real chance MON can change things. MON explained our January window was done without additional spend he just recycled wages and funds from Souttars insurance money.

Sorry Boss, I've lost us 300k+ in about 6 months but hey its only 300k what does that buy you. It was a bad signing that lost the club money.

Well hang on, he was still able to spend upwards of £4m on two players as well as bringing plenty of others in as well. That’s more than a lot of clubs at this level have, FFP or not.

Might well do or not but it's still wrong to say he hung Sparrow out to dry I can’t agree. He didn’t look ready at all. I think he played better there than a Shawcross or Woodgate at right back mind. But he didn’t look comfortable. And I think there’s very good reasons for that. Agree not comfortable at all. Ready? We'd have to see him at Centrehalf/mid to work that out properly wouldnt we.

How much do we reckon we’re saving if these go?
Allen 50k/wk? Smith 15k/wk? Fletcher 10k/wk? Vrancic 10k/wk? Chester 5k/wk?
Might be more on Smith?

How much do we reckon we’re saving if these go? Allen 50k/wk? Smith 15k/wk? Fletcher 10k/wk? Vrancic 10k/wk? Chester 5k/wk? Might be more on Smith? Yeah, I'd say that was about right. Possibly 20 for Smith, pre-Covid and when we were still entrusting parachute money to idiots. It'll be interesting to see how much of that will be re-invested, as the wage bill will have to continue to drop presumably. Maybe fractionally more on Fletcher, but by the time Chester, Vrancic and him rocked up, we were in a different financial world.

He's looked his age the last few weeks, off the back of Norwich fans warning us he was as robust as a packet of Rich Tea. I get the feeling, from bits and pieces, that he was a plan B to Baker last summer. The player I really want to see leave is Clucas, but can't see many takers for him. He really has run his race here.

His wage must be more much more manageable than his original deal, and always a chance when they get to the last 12 months He's probably a difficult player to manage when he's not playing too, so would imagine we'd try everything to drum up some interest. Wouldn't expect a queue though.

Chester doesn’t need replacing with a new player either. The rest do.

Thing is the £4m was spent on two young players with decent potential and low wages, its the reason we could get rid of surridge for a nominal (in footballing terms) loss. Part of that money was to best replace Collins, which they've done fairly well. Unfortunately the bulk of that money seems to have been used to pay off some very costly players. "Plenty of others" were 4 free transfers on 1 year or less wages, or loans. The reason is because due to FFP we couldn't go longer, we couldn't take the wages. This summer is the first time we really get to be compared to other clubs and MON has to deliver. When he's signed players with a long term view his record has been generally excellent so it bodes well.

Bosmans, loans and cheapies thrown together into a stew and make the best of it with good management trying to make them greater than the sum of their parts It's all short-term and driven by a tight budget with little fat. I just have trouble with any argument that paints MON as being more hard done by than any other non-parachute manager.

Vrancic 11k/wk? Chester 15k/wk? Also we have got rid of Ince, Bath and Davies at £70k pwk. That's about £9m pa of what was a £17m wage bill.

Yeah the only argument that can be made there is that the players we spend the most money on absolutely haven't been worth it. Most but not all parachute teams don't get rinsed in the same way we did (atleast how it feels), but there are others like Sunderland who got it worse with players like Rodwell.
