Laurent? Agree we need another though I'm wondering if with yesterday's signing we're perhaps thinking of playing Tymon in midfield? Good engine for box to box, can see a pass and tackle. We've got a fuck ton of midfielders that do that

We've got a fuck ton of midfielders that do that I can see him as the Allen replacement, especially as Laurent seems to be more an attacking midfielder than I expected and could be the reason why Vrancic had a change of heart on his extra year.

But Tymon when he has played in midfield is best when he's attacking. It makes no sense. So it'd fit in with Allen tbh. I don't think he ever wanted to keep Vrancic but Vrancic opted in (as anyone would) and we then got shot of him.

I can see him as LB/LWB and this new lad being back up/competition. Can’t see why we’d move one of our best performers from last season to accommodate an unproven player. Hopefully the new lad will get more chances than Doughty.

No thanks to Tymon in midfield. Next. He's had his best games as an attacking box to box midfielder hasn't he? But I'm with you, I want an actual midfielder there.

But I'd never class a winger as a midfielder. They're a winger. Guess it depends on what your definitions are and how much you stick to them.

Laurent,Baker,Powell, Clucas
Sparrow (who has played 1 game & not in midfield)
Tymon if we are down on numbers,Wilmot even
assume Sawyers will sign, if he does that's probably all the central midfielders we sign?

Oli Burke must have the best agent in the game. Followed closely by ECM

Oli Burke must have the best agent in the game. Followed closely by ECM I will die on the hill defending Chopper. I think for someone who's first time it was in a league he did alright. The issue was he was the replacement for our best player and wasn't to that standard. I can see why PSG and Bayern took him though. Relatively cheap, big, strong, reasonably quick, scores the odd goal and allows better players to rest and does a decent enough job. Just the wrong player at the wrong time for us really. Would have loved to have seen him in the same team as Arnie.

Deffo. We desperately need goals though, and although there are no excuses around Campbell this time, and Brown seems to have come good, we need more. I suspect Tyrese is going to have an excellent season. I really hope so

Sawyers splits opinion on this board and frankly I'd rather not. Has Scott Twine gone anywhere yet?

The issue with Sawyers isn't Sawyers, it's how the manager uses him.
As someone to rotate with Powell he's ideal.
Play him deeper like the manager wanted to and he was shit.

It'll be interesting to see who Lampard turns to now.
Despite him being very overrated he scored them some goals that won't be easily replaced.
The obvious choice is Tammy Abraham?

Wasn’t he involved in something like 1/3 of all Everton goals last season? Massive hole to fill in an already shit team.

The problem I have with Sawyers in a 10 is that, while he offers a better pass, he doesn’t have the aerial presence and he will flat out refuse to press. We’ve always looked better when playing a high press and you need three players to do that effectively otherwise teams always have an easy out. Ideally, we’d go elsewhere. That said, I wouldn’t be too disappointed with him coming in.
