Ooo, now I like Allen, but you've opened the door for a shit load of abuse now saying that!!!

I can't stress enough how important it is to let him go. Talk of reduced terms is ludicrous unless he excepts the same conditions and salary as Thompson, they offer exactly the same to the team. What a load of rubbish this is. He covers all of the pitch & very often is the last man in defence. Baker goes missing in matches & Allen covers for him. Take a look again the next time they play. He's our M.O.T.M. in most matches, with a consistent 7 performance. He's got more energy than any 2 other players, & covers more ground. He's like Whelan, not much liked or rated on here, but now he's left, he's seen as irreplaceable. He’s a curse on this club. He’s played well for the last month and that’s about it. No coincidence that it happens to be when he needs a new contract.

Utterly insane if we keep him.

Part of me says to keep him, but this may be the perfect example of "addition by subtraction" if he were to leave.

And here we go again trying to retain a player who in my opinion has had an handful of good games in 4 years is it?? The blokes reportedly earning £2,500,000 a year at Stoke, Christ get him gone. In his 6th season here.

Get him gone - Build the team around Bursik, Souttar, Baker and Campbell can also throw dwp and tymon into the mix as well

Lol, yep. Apart from passing and shooting, Allen is so much better. you've also missed tackling, heading, control and running.

If he accepts a two-year-contract on £15K per week I'd say keep, if not just f--- off!

I think in the case of Allen this is the first time in a few seasons where he’s got a good player alongside him that has made a huge difference.

I like Allen, but’s important for both club and player he moves on a fresh start is needed for both in my opinion.
Never hid, always available apart from one injury when he made a pretty remarkable comeback and always gives his all.
The fact that we’ve hardly ever used him in the position he was known for is the clubs fault not the players……

For Liverpool he was a bundle of energy, run around and press. We started him deep and he couldn’t do it.

Keep, only if, reduced wages, squad player only, loses the captaincy.

Allen has always been a bit of a conundrum as to what position he plays best and who with and in what formation.
He has been loyal, on good wages too I assume but as others have said, unless he accepts terms suitable for this division his time has come to leave

I wouldn’t keep him even on reduced terms, he’s been a pivotal part of a woeful midfield for years now. It’s better that we move on and try something different.

I think it’s fair to say the 6-year experiment of building a team around Joe Allen hasn’t gone brilliantly.

I hope if he does get an extension they remove the ‘must play when fit’ clause 😉

Let a new manager decide

Has he signed somewhere else or do we have an option on him? Would you keep him at a lot lower wages? He and Baker play well together. Surely the ownership knows this a decision for a manger to make and not MON. MON would keep Allen if he could. But Allen's wages will be nixed by the board, who in order to comply with FFP has sought players with lower wages. They wouldn't reduce his wages while he was on contract, but any new contract would mean a serious reduction. Allen might reject any such reduction, but where can he go where a new club would pay the wages he's been used to for the last five years? Perhaps if PSG is interested...

Get him gone. He's had a good month or so since his contract is nearly up, but aside from that he's been dross since he signed. It's probably best for all parties that he moves on. Considering what we paid to sign him and what he continues to be paid, he should be absolutely dominating the league, but he is bang average in a bang average side. At least for most of the other expensive waste of times we have recently brought in, we have had the sense to get rid, rather than keep playing them. Get him gone. Exactly. “ band average in a bang average side” I played football at a good level but suffered a broken leg which kept me out for two years. When I came back I dropped right down the league and thought I’d piss it and be the best player on the pitch. How wrong was I. Because my team mates were basically shit there was never a runner, a pass on, balls were played to you chest high and the opposition were generally limited but more aggressive. It was by far harder benign a good player in a shit team believe me. Did they carry on paying you Premier League wages in spite of these struggles?

I expected much more, when we signed Joe, I was rightly impressed. This season has given us way to much mediocrity. Save the expense. Let him go…

PSG, is that Parkhall soccer group. The walking football team. I reckon he'd struggle with them.

His time here has seen both us and him fall from grace.

Get rid. Has improved lately but it's not worth keeping him. Should get a premier league move given his supposed quality.

If he will sign for us on £10k or less (that would free up £45k) on a 2 year deal without any play if you're fit clauses he could be worth hanging onto, he's played a lot better with Baker alongside but he really should have been dictating the midfield in the championship since we were relegated, something which he has failed abysmally to do in any match even in cup matches against lower league teams he's never really stood out. Gouranga.
