Think that says gone by the end of the World Cup as we drift along no real recognition of the core issues

That really doesn’t fill me with hope , and as going forward with the two goal keepers contending for a starting place 🤦♂️🤦♂️ He does indicate there'll be another keeper coming in as well though (and doesn't mention Fielding) I think he goes a bit strong on the 'woe is me' card financially being as the rest of the division is in exactly the same boat The rest aren't in the same boat, parachute payments make the difference, unless you spunk them on shit like we did.

Yeah, I meant all the non-parachute teams. I'd always forgive us finishing behind any parachute club (although reading around, it's certainly a different environment even for them, compared to our Rowett Supermarket Sweep)

Think that says gone by the end of the World Cup as we drift along no real recognition of the core issues I think the obvious sacking time is the beginning of the World Cup break, not the ebd New manager gets couple of weeks on the training ground, then a quick flurry of games then January window I think there will be a record number of managerial changes at that time in the top 2 divisions To keep his job we are going to have to be in the top 6,or within 3 points of perhaps, by that point

Crikey it maybe factual his commentary but it is hardly inspiring is it? I know we don’t need over promising success but it could be a bit more upbeat? He’s dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn’t …….In essence (for those that want to listen and try to understand) the club is still trying to climb out of the hole it found itself in after calamitous mis-mismanagement by the owners and former CEO. His two interviews have tried to explain the complexities of the clubs current position whilst trying to improve performances. I’m certainly not happy, however I try to take a balanced pragmatic view on what MON is faced with. My angst and cynical thinking is focused on the past which has created the here and now.

In what way is absolving the manager of any responsibility for another intensely disappointing season ‘balanced’? Balance would be acknowledging the limitations he’s working with but also looking objectively at his own performance.

It’s just lots of excuses and nonsense.
According to him we lacked confidence, that’s why it all went wrong. Well Michael, you’re the leader, you’re the one who’s supposed to inspire & Instill that confidence. Instead he just seems to blame everything & anyone apart from himself.
Bursik & Bonham we’re both poor. Harwood-Bellis loan was mixed at best, but he seems to be saying they were relatively successful.
This talk of being on the front foot & attacking teams, does he honestly believe that? At home I can barely remember a game where we started with any kind of intensity.
He always talk about playing our football the right way too, but that seems to be pass around the back 7/8 times then lump it.
I just want abit of positivity & something to look forward to, but I’m majorly concerned that he can’t actually see the issues, let alone be able to resolve them.

Consequently the manager will be safe unless we are dragged into the relegation spots (which I fear). In 12 months time, I can foresee the same excuses about old contracts, etc and the manager deserves another season of stagnation.

That's a scenario that could play out however if we are top 6 in New Year and bottom half by May I think there's no way he'd get a new contract I think only way he gets one is if the last two seasons pattern isn't repeated and we are play offs at the end of the season Or runaway Champions of course... 😁

We already know him having us in the top six by that stage of the season means nothing anyway. When adversity bites he crumbles.

When adversity bites he crumbles. He should have gone the week the season ended That was my preffered outcome too but if he starts next season he should be allowed to finish it barring calamity. Just FFS don't give him another contract unless he gets us promoted.

The frustrating thing is he does, he kept us up doing it, he just doesn't want to for god knows what reason. Because he felt his hand was forced then as he needed results sharpish? Since then he's just reverted to type But why change it, if it was working?

Like Gudjon and his aversion to 442, both always cited the odd games where it hadn’t worked over the numerous games where it had.

And some have used the Fulham and Derby away games too from last season for similar reasons as to why he needed to change things. It’s a terrible negative attitude imo.

Would you give up a well paid job where the bosses don’t seem to care or hold you to account over performance? I know I wouldn’t. He doesn't need to give it up, he needs to look back and realise what worked for him previously and adjust what he's doing because most can see there's zero hope in what he's doing now.

Many of our fans would squeal like bitches at losing a game 4-0 even if we’d won our last 5, 5-4 they like binary Stockholm syndrome.

I'd say at home we're far too patient and stick with the same tactics for far too long in a game when they appear to be being quite easily stifled. I'd like to see the manager being far more pro active within games and alter his gameplan to whatever is neccessary. I'm not a fan of longball football but I'm quite happy to see us pen a team in and bombard them if that's what it takes and not wait for the death throes of the game. He needs to accept that it's upto us to dictate the pattern of home games not have it dictated to us by the opposition, he has to have an answer to teams that sit in other than plod plod plod.

You are right, he is far too much a reactive manager than a proactive one. However, things are made even worse when his reactive tactics invariably fail to work. I genuinely can’t explain to anyone what our style or brand of football is. The players must be as confused by it as the manager. At least under say Pulis or Hughes for example you knew how we were going to play; with MON I am no wiser now than I was when he first came to the club as to how he wants to play and yet he keeps referencing how he wants to play. Wish he would tell us what his vision is as if I knew what he was aiming for I might be able to see green shoots moving towards it. He has stabilised the club, but he doesn’t have the skills, tactical awareness or pragmatism to take us forward.

Really illustrates the monumental task that’s had to be undertaken at the club, not only since relegation but also to undo the terrible failure that was administered in the panic of trying to go straight back up. For all the moaners… it’s evident that we’ve still not really plateaued onto an even keel yet to even start a rebuild. Personally I find it quite amazing the job that’s been done by MoN, has the footy been dire for a lot of it - yeah sure, have we been disappointed with a lot of results - of course but the squad is completely being transformed and we’ve had a few flirts with the playoffs. For me my expectations are that this season is now ground zero, bed in some decent foundations and have a good go at the playoffs with there still being scope to build for next season and a definite promotion. If that doesn’t happen we look at another manager.
