Yeah but he doesn’t really play any of their positions, and his position doesn’t exist in our side, that’s why it’s a bit of a weird one. It seemed to work for DWP against Hull. It may well work with this lad. It just seems a slightly odd move to sign a winger to play there. It might be genius, it’s just a curious one.

No harm in having options available. As I understand it, he is a right footed player who has been playing on the left wing and cutting in. Nothing to say that he has to play that position for us. At almost every point of this season and last we have had 6 or 8 players out at a time. Without spending any money MON has managed to sign 4 players, 3 of whom are younger and cheaper than the players that they have replaced. People seem to have completely forgotten last season, when bringing on Vokes was the best option available to us. Sima appears to be gone. Fletcher has played very little, and may shortly be surplus to requirements. The much criticised Brown has 6 goals this year, how many has Fletcher, or Tyrese for that matter?

I understand the questions about where JPB will play, and it is an interesting discussion to read. But it is a good problem to have, far better than being stuck for someone to select or having to pick someone that you think is going to make no difference.

I must admit I've never heard of him. I recall Villa giving us a spanking at u-23 level and there being a stand out player, but did not know it was him. Glad to see we have some folk at the club paying attention and picking up these exciting prospects, like JPB and THB, on loan - I guess it is for Alex Aldridge to take another bow. I hope that they give us more than Clarke and Rabbi did after last January's loans.

great news if it happens. Could this mean the exit of Powell or Ince?

Interesting if he's been promised lots of game time in #10 role, could that mean a formation with Campbell on right, DWP left and Powell tucked in behind? what does it mean for Fletcher (on some of the higher wages) reluctant sale? or Surridge (who'll really be pushed down the list now for game time) loan?

Doesn't appear to make much sense as he's played all his football out wide, and Gerrard's system features that role. Why would he suddenly want him playing elsewhere?
Wanting him to play games makes sense, but why a new position he's never played and isn't being used at his club?
Can't see MON wanting Powell to play as a No.9, so you'd think we'd have to want he and JPB to play behind Fletcher long-term -if this is true? Although injuries and rotation will obviously mean it's not that easy.

I have no idea...it's going to be interesting to see how we can slot him in whilst also keeping Powell and Campbell happy and playing in their best positions Maybe he plays in rotation with Campbell coming in from the right whilst Ty gets back up to speed

Yeah, a departure of some kind wouldn't be a massive surprise now. Whether it's the two floaty No.10s behind one striker or not, minutes are going to be squeezed down to the bone up there and some will be squeezed out I'd be very surprised if Fletcher went as his wages are already MON-era approved. Same with Vrancic. Surridge you could definitely see a loan? And Ince's stock is the highest it's been for literally years, probably. With 6 months left on his deal, probably not completely unthinkable if we can shed 6 months of his wages and don't see him staying in the summer A Powell move is probably just about thinkable too. There's been no talk of us agreeing any long-term deal and even though we've got the option of extending his current deal, that will be on his current exorbitant figure. Still can't see it though as he's just too important and good. Tyrese? Who knows if Burnley put the money down

Wouldn't be shocked if Ince moved on now.

This season Powell injury-wise hasn't been reliable. If this manages to take the pressure off Powell, save us rushing him back before he is fully fit and able to spend an extended time in the team, then it is a great acquisition. (Should he be successful in the position of course)

Or perhaps the real Aston Villa Academy know what they’re doing as opposed to some sad 13 year old self styling himself as the (unofficial) Villa Academy on Twatter? Just a thought.

Arnie and Thierry Henry both played a lot of games out wide then did well as a striker. Unsure if Sam S will be loaned as will it mean he's played for 3 clubs in the same season?

Not in Stokes hand if he wants to go come June. We can trigger another year can't we? That's what Sentinel reported - but doesn't seem to have been mentioned in the 4 months since www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-nick-powell-contract-5859505Stoke City have the option to trigger a contract extension for Nick Powell, StokeonTrentLive can reveal. Powell signed an initial three-year deal when he joined Stoke as a free agent in 2019 and there has been concern that he may be able to move on next summer. But Stoke are expected to extend the 27-year-old’s stay for at least another season. Talks are also expected at some stage over the next few months about his long-term future at the bet365 Stadium as he finds the best form of his career.
