Percy's usually nailed on with this kind of info from midland clubs, nothing from him that I can see.

The story linked in the OP is a bit weird in my view: "It is understood Gerrard himself has been studying the options, which are plentiful. Almost every promotion-chasing team in the Championship has registered their interest in taking the player. There were also clubs in Belgium and France keen to take him.
However, we understand that Stoke have emerged as the most likely landing spot, with Gerrard impressed by Michael O’Neill and his plans.
Gerrard also likes O’Neill’s work with a number of younger players. Therefore, he is ready to let one of his prized assets move to the Bet365 Stadium for the remainder of the campaign."
Sound like Gerrard is willing to let him go as long as he approves of the club, so may have more credence than usual. On the other hand, it could be absolute bollocks. Stevie G rates MON? He obviously doesn’t read the Oatcake.

So looks like we can take it to the bank

'Theres only one Philogene-Bidace, one Philogene-Bidaaaaace' mind you surely he gets called bad ass? Or Phil&Jean Lovely couple. Met them at St Ives last summer. He's a retired newsagent and she still worked for the NHS.

Assuming JPB hasn't come to sit on the bench..... Fletcher JPB Campbell Tymon-Allen-Baker-Smith Chester-Jags-THB GK (no idea where Powell, Vrancic, Ince and DWP fit!)

Those saying we do not play with wingers are rather missing the point - young, athletic, pacey, talented prospects are to be welcomed, no matter what. It seems MON is maybe coming around to recognising youth and pace as the most effective weapons to use in this league, and not passing, passing, passing and possession for the sake of it. I can get behind that change.

He sounds an exciting talent but at best he’s likely going to be a square peg playing as a second striker or attacking midfielder?

I quite like MON, but I wouldn’t hold much stock in ‘Stevie G’’s say… Did alright at Rangers. Not a bad career. Probably knows a good manager when he sees one having played for a variety of good and bad. You’d also think he’s able to get plenty of ‘inside info’ from players who played for him or people who worked with him. On second thoughts, you’re right, I think the average Oatcake poster probably knows better.

Or (once all fully fit in a few weeks - injury replacements in brackets) Campbell JPB Powell (DWP) Tymon Allen Baker Smith Wilmot Jags THB Bursik (Bonham) Davies and Edwards off, it seems - others too? Fox? Surridge? TOB? Sima surely not coming back now.

He was head and shoulders our best player against Hull. Always room for talented players.

Stevie G rates MON? He obviously doesn’t read the Oatcake. Who doesn’t rate him on here? Just doesn’t seem the need for him. I never understand that view myself. If, by all accounts he's very highly rated, and tore us a new one in the u23 game, why would he not come and potentially make a big impact replacing some of the shit in midfield that we get drummed into us on here from nearly everyone on this board. I don't care if we have 15 midfielders. If we have one coming in who is potentially gravy, get him in. If we have 4 forwards now, and mpappe was offered to us, would you still take him or say, no we have enough forwards?

I think it shows that the club are extremely determined to give the rest of the season a real good go. The board have backed him to the hilt as far as they can within FFP. I suggest that if we fail to make the play offs as a minimum, MON will be on very thin ice.

I posted this above (and I think someone else also did, or suggested something close): Campbell JPB Powell(DWP until fit) Tymon Allen Baker Smith Wilmot Jags THB Bursik (Bonham until fit) Vrancic would be a bench option to cover the two attacking midfielders - we never have more than 6 or 7 fit of our preferred first choice XI, it seems, in any event.

It looks like we are trying to retain quality whilst more importantly reduce the wage bill, which appears priority.

If he’s as good as reports suggest then maybe it’s too good an opportunity for us to ignore. Some players are worth the gamble, and he seems like he could be one of those, especially nicking him from other promotion hopefuls.
