According to transfermarkt he is primarily a right footed left winger. So possibly a goal threat as well as providing assists? Possibly a natural to play on the left of a front 3 in a 433 or 343 formation? If so he would not be in competition with our midfielders.

Do we need a winger? Do we even play with wingers? I suppose if we line up like Sunday we could play him up top but what happens to DWP then? Edit If he is that good might be too good to miss and fairly cheap a swell.

Do we need a winger? Do we even play with wingers? I suppose if we line up like Sunday we could play him up top but what happens to DWP then? Yes, it does seem odd! If we play 3-5-2, there doesn't seem a natural fit. You could squeeze him in where Ince is playing, or the second striker role DWP played. Given how those two played though, seems unlikely. And you could play him as one of the 2 No.10s in a 3-4-3 - but it'd squeeze the minutes for Powell, Ince, Vrancic, DWP whatever we did. The alternative is switching to a back 4, but is it worth it to accommodate a youngster, however talented? I'm sure Doughty would be delighted that if we switched to a back 4, a young 19yo came in and gobbled up all his starts on the wing! It might just be a bit of kite-flying because it seems to ask too many questions to be likely?

I used to wonder why my dad struggled with the names of our Icelandic players. He was almost 20 years older then than I am now, and I'm really starting to struggle with this lot. 🤣

The names get more exotic. Certainly no Denis Smith or Alan Bloor. Who needs names? It's JPB to go with DWP. Not forgetting TOB, this is getting silly. Overseen by the Middle of Nowhere (MoN) Its hoisted in to the area of the Joint Policy Board (JPb) who passes it onto the Department of Work and Pension (DWP), who suddenly get confused with Terms Of Business (ToB) who thinks it should all be cleared thanks to Thai Baht (THB)

It doesn't make sense at all, unless some are on their way out, Gerrard wouldn't let him out without some sort of assurance he would get good game time..

Cant be a bad thing to have another attacking youngster around. Especially in an open game if he's quick and knows where the net is then that's a bonus. I do sometimes look at the bench n wounder where the options are to come on and change a game.

Maybe the fact it's just up the road as well, he wouldn't have to move he could easily travel from there and it would be easy for Villa to keep tabs on his progress.

Hugely exciting talent but a weird signing for us if we are legitimately pursuing this.

Makes Sima even more redundant too, not that he's available. Or is he???????

Surely we are over stacked with Midfielder's to add another?. We’ve gone from a paucity of options to being overloaded, Ginge. Someone’s leaving surely? This lad, by the way is very very promising. He annihilated our under 23’s earlier in the season. I did wonder then if we might have enquired about him and a few others in the Villa team that night. I would go with someone is leaving.

Even if someone's leaving, we don't play with wingers, do we?
And we've just signed two ball-playing centre halves and binned Batth presumably to restore some functionality to the back three?

Hugely exciting talent but a weird signing for us if we are legitimately pursuing this. Yeah, if he’s supposed to be a winger, as some have said on here, what will he be doing in our side? I kind of feel like we’ve been in touch with Villa about someone else and wires have been crossed along the way. Unless we try to move to a 3-4-3/5-2-3 with this guy and Ince either side of a central striker, then I just don’t get where he would play.

It is and ours is massive. And we’ve shown what signing players that don’t fit a way of playing doesn’t work.

Possibly but we have a left winger. We have our own young player who can cover the left wing (DWP) if we want to shake it up. Doesn’t make much sense any way you cut it.

I reckon Sima is pretty much a write off & maybe a loan for Surridge to see if there is a player there, the fact he hasn't appeared in the last 2 at all speaks volumes of where he stands imo
It would be brave of MON to loan out what appears to be his most expensive signing to date but cant see how the lad is going to improve sitting around & he looks miles off making an impression here?

A very strange signing if it goes ahead, who will he replace, with Vrancic and Powell due back soon, Lewis-Baker, Allen, Clucas, Sawyers, Thonmpson, Ince, Doughty and Tymon on the wide left Smith and Duhany on the wide right. It just doesn't make much sense. Gouranga.

Athletic says it's happening theathletic.com/news/aston-villas-jaden-philogene-bidace-set-for-stoke-loan-move/bASAHFdIZeTX/Jaden Philogene-Bidace is set for a loan switch to Stoke City.
The Championship side have won the race to sign Aston Villa's exciting young winger until the end of the season after beating competition from a number of other clubs.Philogene-Bidace, 19, made his Premier League debut earlier this season and featured in Villa's FA Cup defeat to Manchester United. However after the arrival of Philippe Coutinho, and the return of wingers Bertrand Traore and Trezeguet from the African Cup of Nations next month, boss Steven Gerrard has sanctioned the deal to let the youngster leave. Stoke have watched Philogene-Bidace on a number of occasions this season and were competing with a stack of other clubs to sign him.
There was also interest from Germany, but the appeal of staying in the Midlands, coupled with Michael O'Neill's track record of working with young players, helped him make his decision.
