Belarus has been undergoing Russification for some time, and undergoing Putin's take on the EU's aim of "ever closer union". I've heard it said that Lukashenko is at something of a crossroads right now, and has a difficult choice to make as to whether he allows Belarus to become absorbed by Russia, or to go against Putin.

Russia want to annexe Belarus properly.
They’ve sort of done it but not getting the Belarusian armed forces to help was a blow to them I suspect.
They will have a plan to get someone in and then absorb it into Russia.

Be difficult to get someone more pro Russia however with Putin he's as likely to bump off his allies as his enemies Apparently Russians are ok with prisoners or ethnic minorities getting conscripted to die, but it's only really ok if white Muscovites are volunteers. I think Putin sees he's only got enough conscripts for this year, so maybe the plan is for Belarusians to be fed into the grinder through 24/25 so he can hold on for someone like Trump to take power and dig out a win for him? It's horrible how he's ethnically cleansing the parts of Ukraine he occupied in 2014. So many Ukrainians sent to die to invade the rest of their country. Last year the fake Donetsk government admitted casualty rates that would be like the UK seeing 600k young men killed and wounded in 8 months.

Absolutely batshit numbers. At least 2000 tanks is just unbelievable! Here's a recent video of some Ukrainian madlads getting behind a Russian tank and blasting it with an (alleged) NLAW. Good chance it was one of our missiles.

Doubtful that a drone could travel from Ukraine to Moscow without detection? Very little damage, an excuse for an increase in more Russian attacks?

Doubtful that a drone could travel from Ukraine to Moscow without detection? Very little damage, an excuse for an increase in more Russian attacks? 100%. Just an excuse to ramp up the rhetoric and potentially justify the use of something even nastier. It's so fucking obvious, wonder if the Russian citizens themselves can see it yet?

Disagree with the few posts above.
Ukraine is doing these attacks because they can.
It is absolutely humiliating for Russia.

I don't know whether these are false flag attacks but they could be a way to force Russia to spread out air defence. I'd fucking love it if we see drones whacking Pantsirs in fields across Russia.

I just think it’s a natural progression. They have the capability to do it, so why wouldn’t they? This one today comes after days of Kyiv being bombarded too. And from what I can tell it was in a better class area? Bringing the war home to those that so far have been shielded from it?

I have no idea if the drones were false flag or Ukrainian drones, I suspect the latter If so and Military Intelligence in the West will have a very clear idea which, it may be counterproductive in the long term if however delicious in the short term. The West's two fears are (i) escalation which brings the conflict onto Russian soil with unpredictable retaliation which is why F 16s for example have not yet been provided as they have an offensive as well as defensive capability and (i i) if things were to go entirely Tits Up for Putin/Russia and it became completely unstablised the reaction within Russia and the outer regions is completely unpredictable with certain uprisings in Transnistra, South Ossetia, Abkhazia and Artsakh as well as Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk. This would entirely destabilise the Region for decades and bring bordering Countries Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan into the conflict The US/West's strategy is to significantly weaken Russia so it is forced to the negotiating table but not from an outright victory by Ukraine. In my opinion.

In my opinion. I'm not sure everyone in the West or even just the US government is united here. Even inside pro-democracy groups like the Biden administration there are hints that some people don't want to risk escalating or collapsing Russia, while others want Ukraine to win. It's still not decided but we're on track to a Ukrainian victory IMO, it's just a matter of whether the West will put up the cash. With Moscow drone attacks it sounds like Russian media weren't properly prepared for it, which hints at who did it. I'm not sure it's a good idea long term either, but drones whacking military airbases instead of buzzing near apartment buildings would be an obvious win for me.

Hell yeah Denmark!About time the Europeans started to contribute. They have been riding on the coat tails of the USA for too long. I had some sympathy for Trump when he threatened to pull out of NATO if the Euro countries didn't step up and pay their way. The USA could build a lot of schools, hospitals etc with the money saved (no guarantee that they would of course😉).

Germany's military has been an embarrassment but Europe has paid a huge price so far, way more than the US once you include energy cost. Could have just kept taking Russian gas. I think it's interesting that Trump said he cared so much about that while boosting his own defence spending anyway. It's almost like he was just trying to help authoritarians and hurt democracies.

Russia attacked in the north. Sounds like they took one trench then lost it a few hours later.
Since Bakhmut their guns have gone quieter, reports say fewer than 100 shells a day in the whole Zaporizhzhia region recently.
Russia is acting like it doesn't have enough ammunition to attack like before *and* defend.

Norway jumping in with 6.5 bn euros over 5 years, link. That's military plus humanitarian, but very important we're seeing long term plans now. Germany already did something similar.

This is fucking amazing. Russia shooting down its own aircraft all over the place, probably because of the threat of our storm shadows? Could also be Ukraine I suppose. Russians say all the pilots died, so that's even better news. This was two weeks ago. I thought it was Russia fucking up but now Ukrainian sources say it was Patriots shooting into Russia from Ukraine. Shows how confused all the news can be.

Opposition party politician calls for Putin to be removed on the Kremlin approved State TV channel NTV, say Russia needs to rebuild relations with Europe It’s happening… It might be, but it may not. Putin has a history of funding anti-Putin dissent as a means to divide and control the population using cognitive dissonance. The recent drone attacks in Moscow could be another example.

Russia doesn't have enough tanks to fully supply its units now so they're digging up old ass T-80s that turned into rustbuckets over decades in Siberian fields.
Russia still has more tanks than Ukraine and is very dangerous, but it started off with Russian tanks all being better and high tech. Not any more.

Hopefully most surrendered to Ukraine.

Sweden latest Ukraine invade Russia, according to Russia. I heard it was just some Russians who want Putin gone. They've been going around in the Bilhorod People's Republic and Russia has been shelling their own towns. There should be a cease fire with Russia's guns pulled back from Bilhorod, so they can negotiate a peaceful settlement! (I don't actually think this)
