Well at the moment he's got more chance of getting promoted than if he'd stayed at Stoke. IMO never given a long enough run in the team to show what he is or isn't capable of. Watch him start banging them in now for Forest Gouranga.

It hasn't worked out but if we can get most of our money back and invest in a few more players that will suit us then io'm all up for it.

Love it. Brought him in. Didn’t bring what we hoped. Moved him on sharpish. Good policy. Very positive attitude going forward. The squad is shaping up very nicely 👏👏👏👏

The squad is shaping up very nicely 👏👏👏👏 No it isn't, we have a 40 yr old CB and 3 loanees, players that have been bought in are being shipped out without being given a chance we're a mile off the play-offs and don't look like being anywhere close. Gouranga.

Manager Michael O’Neill said: “In terms of a permanent signing Sam has been our number one striking option that we identified. We’ve had to be very patient but it’s great to get it done.
“He’s a young player with all his best years ahead of him and he will be a fantastic addition to our squad.”
Can't feel anything other than baffled and concerned by the fact we are shipping out our ' number one striking option ' of only 5 months ago after just six league starts for the club. What the hell has happened here? Let's be honest it's not a great deal for the club at all, it's damage limitation. We've made a loss on the fee we put down for him, we've been paying his wages for the last five months and we could've filled that role with a better alternative from the start and maybe we'd be in the play offs now and not clinging on to a top half position. Not one for hammering the club for the sake of it but questions need to be asked about how we've managed to get a key signing so badly wrong again.

Can you not at least give the club credit for realising they got it wrong and taking decisive action? Surely it would be much worse to keep him here for 3 years and watch him wither on the vine?

People complaining about the recruitment team need to compare it to how much we've lost on Vokes and Afobe in transfer fees and wages

How many times over the last few years have we got these types of deals wrong though and had to settle for cutting our losses on players? The bulk of the players we shifted in the summer were bad additions that we had to take a loss on. When you sign a player in August, describe him as your number one striking option and then you are shipping him out permanently five months later on the back of 6 league starts then I think very little credit is due to be honest, regardless whether we've got most of our initial fee back.

There's more to it than he's just not shown his potential yet, sounds like he's fallen out with the manager to be a permanent exit.

So that's: Strengths: Gets into good positions. Weaknesses: Finishing Heading Holding the ball up Lack of pace Link play What I'm saying is low on confidence and when a couple go in if he's playing regularly he might score a few Of course he might but that just doesn't cut it nowadays. The days where a player contributes naff all but finishing are pretty much over.

Nowhere near as bad as some are making out here. Did okay. Not breathtaking but there's definitely more in his locker than he's been able to show so far.
But, if we can get better anyway, then no reason not to.

I still think Surrige will do well somewhere in the right set up that suits him, and with a good run of games.
It's good we are shipping him out though, as his value would just continue to depreciate with continual lack of game time. Its football. Sometimes these things happen. Cut our losses and move on.
As for Bayern being all giddy that he called it right. He thinks every player we've ever signed is absolutely garbage so he's bound to get the odd one right. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Ok he didn’t have a run of games but I’ve seen enough to see that he’s not quick or strong. His one strength seemed to be his positioning but he fluffed so many decent chances that it beggared belief.
A disastrous signing all in all and it’s a miracle that Forest are stumping up £2.2m for him.
