Yet another reminder that SOT is an area that lives in the past and that our shopping centre is on its arse. The Sentinel is absolute garbage.

I'm banned from commenting on all of their social media sites for questioning an article.
I was fair and asked a serious question and didn't swear and I've been banned for 5 years now by the editor hahaha.
Article was about "helicopter lands on football pitch and woman transported across dual carriageway to hospital" basically article was asking if anyone saw it and knew who she was.
My point was rather than trying to identify who she was, they should respect her privacy. And the main question should be if the hospital is a main trauma unit for snowdonia why wasn't the helipad made big enough to accept sea-king helicopters when it was built?
And got banned.

The Sentinel ceased to be a local newspaper many years ago. It's owned by the Daily Mirror and mostly staffed from London. It's nothing but a load of clickbait drivel today. Waste of time, effort and money. It isn't staffed from London but all its local 'journalists' are (a) home-based and (b) largely not qualified journalists but are in fact nothing more than 'content writers'. The Sent*nel and all the other S hitsvilleLive sites that Reach PLC owns are merely SEO sweatshops churning out clickbait wank (mainly from Reach's production hubs in Birmingham and Chadderton) and repurposing articles from other publications in the group to fuel its 'content network. It's an ad platform masquerading as a news outlet, and even worse, one that has nothing but contempt for its readership and doesn't give a flying fuck about the damage it causes to the area it supposedly represents or those that it features in its articles, so long as it gets clicks and ad revenue. It's fucking scum. I wish you'd stop sitting on the fence with this 😀

I reckon they sacked him in the past😉 Don't believe he was ever employable Quite the contrary - I used to be a reporter on the newsdesk of a well-respected local paper that had the best interests of the community it represented at heart (not The Sent*nel by the way). It's the steady decent into the gutter of our local paper and the countless others ruined by Reach PLC (and the complicit wankers that stoop so low as to work for them) that really gets my goat. Thanks to Reach and its desecration of what was once a well-respected title with a great history of campaign journalism, this city now effectively has no instrument to hold power to account, to give a voice to the marginalised, or bring to the fore issues directly affecting the residents of Stoke on Trent. And given the government we've currently got both at a local and national level and their feckless regard of things like morals, transparency and even the law, a functional, tenacious free press has never been more important. But hey, so long as people can mock a single mum, or cheer the death of a drug addict, or put the boot into the city at every available opportunity, then who really cares eh?

A mate of mine used to be a stringer for The Sunday Sport (in between his other job as a sub on a 'proper' paper). His finest moment was when he ran a story about a wine merchant convicted of having child pornography on his computer, the accompanying headline to which was PAEDO GRIGIO

I had a slot in a National paper a few years back. Sports column on a Thursday. Not in the UK. I feel I still have that journalistic something going on. I doubt many will agree though. 😉 Wasn't as classy an edition as The Sentinel though.

I wrote a 7 line 9yep 7 line) piece for an Asian daily for about 6 months whilst the actual summariser was at home in the UK. Wasn't very exciting. Just summing up the Wednesday games was no reports on. Would rather that gig

I just wish the public would see it Those quotes from the public are basically just some comments the "journalist" has seen on facebook somewhere and then used as a "story" isn't it? Really, really poor and incredibly lazy "journalism" all round really. The Sun always uses the 'A source close to him/her' which basically means it's just made up. Chap I knew who edited The Straits in Singapore and later worked at The Bangkok Post used to be shocked by the British Press. What they could write re the Royal Family etc and how they could just fabricate stories. Unheard of in other countries

I want a job at The Sent, they're never in the office. Yesterday they had a story about spending '£15 on Christmas decorations in Home Bargains, and this is what we got'. It knocks Watergate into a cocked hat.

I got a taxi to Crewe today and the driver asked if I had a mask could I wear it as he was instructed to ask passengers to do so. Not a problem but first time been asked . Most people in the town seemed to be wearing them. I had to get foreign currency and everyone in post office wearing one. All 235 of them in the queue in front of me.
