Haven't visited today as yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if their big Breaking News story for the day is something like:
'Pound Bakery are ditching their chicken tikka slice...and you aren't happy'

I just wish the public would see it It's become a British version of "The Enquirer" minus the celebrities. Air-brain tittle-tattle to fill an ever desperate web-site. It would be better and funnier if it just went full on Sunday Sport as Clams says. At least it might make a laugh every now and then (maybe).

You aren’t alone folks Plymouth Live is nearly as bad. Earlier this year an American Marine laboratory was tracking Lydia the great white shark's movements around the North American coast line. One report put the shark about halfway across the Atlantic cueing the Plymouth Live report headlines that Great White Shark heading for Plymouth Sound with pictures of Australians who’d survived shark attacks in Ozz. Then there was the story of the abandoned hulk full of rabid rats that was afloat somewhere in the western approaches that too was headed for us poor Plymothians. Anyway glad to report all is well we did have some basking sharks spotted in Yealm Estuary but no sign of the rat infested hulk. Presumably successfully applied asylum in France somewhere.

There's a story in today saying that the rise in local covid "cases" is being driven by children as young as 5 whereas previously it was down to the 12-18 age group but of course they've now been jabbed. Utterly despicable, agenda driven reporting.

I just wish the public would see it Those quotes from the public are basically just some comments the "journalist" has seen on facebook somewhere and then used as a "story" isn't it? Really, really poor and incredibly lazy "journalism" all round really.

The Sentinel ceased to be a local newspaper many years ago.
It's owned by the Daily Mirror and mostly staffed from London.
It's nothing but a load of clickbait drivel today. Waste of time, effort and money.

Waste of time, effort and money. It isn't staffed from London but all its local 'journalists' are (a) home-based and (b) largely not qualified journalists but are in fact nothing more than 'content writers'. The Sent*nel and all the other S hitsvilleLive sites that Reach PLC owns are merely SEO sweatshops churning out clickbait wank (mainly from Reach's production hubs in Birmingham and Chadderton) and repurposing articles from other publications in the group to fuel its 'content network. It's an ad platform masquerading as a news outlet, and even worse, one that has nothing but contempt for its readership and doesn't give a flying fuck about the damage it causes to the area it supposedly represents or those that it features in its articles, so long as it gets clicks and ad revenue. It's fucking scum.

You can say it's owned by the company that owns the Daily Mirror if you prefer, makes no difference it's the same thing. The vast majority of local newspapers are now owned by Reach / Mirror and they've destroyed every single one of them.

Waste of time, effort and money. That's the point though, isn't it? Every time one of their daft headlines gets posted on here, they get twenty or thirty more clicks and more money in their pocket. It's driving traffic to them, which is what they want - they don't care if the readers think that it's garbage. In fact, the clickbaity articles posted here are probably more 'successful' than their much more serious article about a drugs bust in Hanley today. They can churn out twenty clickbait articles in half an hour. In fact, I'm half surprised that they haven't made a story about this thread. At least the sports coverage is ok. I like the Ryan Shawcross column and Pete Smith is at least a genuine supporter.

When they bought all these local newspapers they sacked the 'proper' journalists and replaced them with 'content writers' whose target was page impressions and clickthroughs. A former reporter on my local rag, the Leicester Mercury (also now destroyed by Reach) wrote a detailed blog about it after he was sacked.
