Without Jeff Stelling it'll be unwatchable.

Agreed, I’m sure they will soon add extra variation to the panel to try and match Final Score. I just want to see down to earth blokes, who know their football having a laugh and showing some emotion for the game. That’s the formula, but it’s being diluted to the point of being nothing. Probably as best to go down the pub and put the score flashes on the TV and chat through it that way over a few beers. |

Used to watch it every Saturday when not at a game but now if I watch the last 10 minutes I've done well. Since they got Rid of the other 3. Jeff, Merson, amd Clinton Morrison are only ones that I can stand on it these days.

Not surprised to be honest after the show was ruined by the PC brigade.It now just panders to the minority with reporters/presenters who should be nowhere near the program

I'm surprised at the level of positivity around the old format. It was beyond stale and the old lads were kept on for a good couple of seasons too long.
Listening to Phil Thompson was like watching paint dry.
Charlie Nicholas was unintelligible.
And Le Tiss is a loon.
Mers is likeable, speaks some sense, and was the only panellist who was worth keeping.
That's not to say the replacements are much better, just that the old line up had their time - fundamentally it's Jeff's show and will live or die depending on who replaces him

And he’s brilliant at it. For this reason Sky will go with one of their established presenters. Maybe a woman but a presenter type all the same. As much of an uproar there was when le tiss, Tommyo and champagne Charlie left - they forget that panel was constantly changing. Alan mullery, George best and others have had permanent slots in those chairs. As time moves on you need the current generation of ex pros with more current views. IMO the likes of souness are dinosaurs now. In ten years time we will be sick of Neville and carragher. It might be controversial but I don’t like shoehorning ex woman footballers in these slots just for diversity sake. If they did the same in the woman’s game the women wouldt be happy. |
