It’s frustrating that we need a goalscorer , we have one with a good track record on the books and don’t use him. I understand the financial needs to move our most expensive investments on but he is only one of several players that have underperformed once we have signed them or whose relationship with the club seems to have soured. Did we only sign bad-eggs or has there been something about our club that has caused this. If only we had a definitive answer. See your point totally but if not able to shift him really don't know what I would do if in MON's shoes. Don't think for one second he is the answer but should we be subsiding say Millwall again? We obviously don't know what the loan fee is and how much they are paying from his salary ...possibly enough to cover another striker/player you would guess.Tricky one Think it was reported as no loan fee but all his wages paid by Millwall

To be be fair why would he disrespect the club or refuse to play? The club has been good to him in general. Because other managers after Rowett don't want him is the way it goes in football. Be good for all concerned it we could sell him but I'd imagine he isn't going to give up his nice contract so isn't going to ruffle any feathers It’s frustrating that we need a goalscorer , we have one with a good track record on the books and don’t use him. I think some of his outings under Jones hovered on reluctance to work if not downright refusal. In most/all other jobs he would have been sacked and had his contract severed - and not paid up one bit.

I just don't think he has the stomach for it at Stoke. He knows the fans don't like him after he's produced so little from his big transfer fee and huge wages and he knows the fans would be on his back quickly if he failed to deliver at the start of the season. I think he simply wants the easier job of starting with a clean slate on loan with less pressure to perform. Winning the Stoke supporters round is a tough job and he just doesn't have the stomach for it and he'd rather run from it whilst still pocketing his huge wages.

His goal return (12 in 38) has been on a par with Jacob Brown's (13 in 45) this season. So are they both crap forwards or both decent? There's more to it than that. Benny never offered anything to the team in his all round game and had zero impact on games when service was lacking. Brown can lead the line and affect the game in other ways, even if he doesn't get on the scoresheet. I imagine defenders don't like facing him, especially in comparison to somebody like Benny. He can hold it up, run in behind, work the channels and generally hustle and bustle for 90 minutes, creating space and opportunities for others. Yes, you need more than that to be a successful forward, but his goal return has significantly improved this season too.

Like a few we signed I don't think Afobe ever really settled at Stoke did he. He lost his 2 year old daughter while on loan to Bristol City and when he was ruled out for the season with the anterior cruciate ligament injury he decided not to do his rehab at Stoke.
Some players don't settle - it happens. He'll be moved on hopefully so we can get him off the wage bill - he's a decent striker at this level so someone will hopefully pay something for him after his showing for Millwall.

He decided he had no interest in playing for us again after getting loudly booed the last time he played for us (1st game of the season) for failing to control the ball.

While I agree with all that having seen Afobe play, have to say I’m mystified how he’s been a constant starter in Rowett’s Millwall, given his lack of work rate? Haven’t seen Millwall play much but seems odd that they’ve been able to accommodate him while we haven’t (while also finishing higher). Similar thing with Surridge where we had no clue how to work around his limitations while Forest have managed fine.

You’d think and maybe we could even get a small fee 🤞

We better hurry up and get this sealed before Rob Edwards gets sacked. He's been there over a month already.

Just getting this useless waster off our books without having to subsidise his ludicrous wages would be a huge bonus.
Come on Watford, you know it makes sense.
