Seems a rarity for a number of months now, tried absolutely everything but for some bizarre reason wide awake all night.
As a rule I sleep like a log easily for 10 hours, realise that the daily recommended amount is around 8 but I really enjoy a good nights sleep, well did do.

Have you started doing anything that you weren’t before, like being on your iPhone in bed? I’m a heavy sleeper but have a perpetually fluctuating body clock, although it’s mostly self inflicted. In more disciplined periods I would only read in bed with my phone out of sight, and eventually be too tired to read and then asleep within minutes of lights out. Was also generally eating well / exercising etc during those periods. It’s worth looking into all this stuff. Also, there’s a sleep expert who has been on joe rogan a few times, Matthew Walker. Worth having a listen. It can’t be overstated just how important good regular sleep is for mental health, acuity and overall quality of life. I’ve seen both sides of the coin.

Haven't slept properly for years - legacy of working away a lot - all too often different bed everynight (and not in a good way).
Recently spent much more time at home and tried everything - darker curtains, no screens 2 hours before bed, listening to chill out music, going to bed late going to bed early, going to bed same time every night, not eating too late, warming the room, cooling the room, leaving the windows open, deep breathing, trying to stay lying on my back, over-excercising, under excercising, camomile tea, warm bath before bed, lavender oil, giving up caffiene, - you name it.
All useless - I'm a completely 'wired' insomniac until about 4.am when I fall asleep to vivid stressful dreams until I wake up again at 6.30 completely knackered.
Only thing I haven't tried is hypnosis and I'm seriously giving it some thought.

Our whole society is geared towards larks but there’s growing research and acknowledgement of the different natural rhythms that individuals have. The theory is that it was advantageous for members of tribes to sleep at different times because it was a good early warning system against nocturnal predation. The owls were alert in the early-middle night whilst the larks slept, and the larks alert very early in the morning. Owl/lark is a complete simplification, in reality everyone has their own natural rhythm but those are the extremes of the spectrum. Also circadian rhythms change with age. Adolescents are more likely to be owls and it’s been shown that adjusting school days to a later schedule may lead to stronger overall academic performances.

Sleep like a log but my bed, covers and pillows etc have no expense spared. I really enjoy my bed it's the comfiest place on earth, I'm often asleep within 5 minutes of hitting the pillow.
Two things I never skimp on, my bed and my shoes because if I'm not in one I'm in the other.
You might have a mattress that doesn't suit you or something simple like the type of pillow you use can make a big difference, look at how you sleep and what pillow and mattress is best for your sleep position.
My mattress is Millbrook, it's the dogs danglys for comfort

Did some serious research into our current mattress, the Which site was extremely informative and we actually opted for a M&S king size mattress 2800 individual pocket springs on a layer of breathable memory foam and topped with 2” of cashmere silk, it’s superb, well apart from when you have to move it as it weighs 75kgs.
I’ve tried everything, latest was an American special forces recommendation but no joy. I can literally drop off for a few minutes and then boom wide awake as if I’ve had a full nights sleep.
Had the same issue a few years ago which resulted in chronic fatigue and hospital treatment in the end, totally totally wiped out for days on end.
Recommend tablets which reluctantly took at first but you’re like a zombie and have to force yourself to get up and when you do you’re so groggy, then there’s the fact under no circumstances can you drive on them so stopped taking them. Luckily enough I’ve got a superb manager and employer so they cater for my needs.

I’ve never had problems sleeping but, having been in the military for many years, I could never get out of the habit of waking at 6am every day regardless of what time I went bed. This all changed earlier this year when I was prescribed 2 Amitriptyline a day because of nerve pain following major surgery couple of years ago. I was warned that the tablets would make me sleepy so I take them last thing at night. Now sleep until 8am most days and my record is 9.45am. I’m usually asleep by 10.30pm.

Usually get an average of 6 hours a night as up at 5 seven days a week , it’s great quality sleep and think been t total helps , love it in the summer when it’s light at 4 , going out at 8 this morning with the dogs over to uttoxeter to do some gun dog training

Of what zerps said, melatonin seemed to help me a bit. Apparently you can't get dependent on it so that's good.
