I don't think I've seen a wicket like that in my life !! It's deserved luck though.

Very well, I think this is a 400+ pitch tbh so hopefully we can get these out for 250 ish and build a nice lead in reply.

Bowl them out right at the end of the days play so we don't lose any early wickets late on and then make them suffer in the heat on a nice flat pitch on days 2 and 3, lovely stuff......

Blunder and Mitchel have been a problem for us throughout this series. Yet another good partnership underway. Interesting to see Leach playing a big role today; lots of overs and a couple of wickets. Not something I can recall much from him; I wonder how much this is down to Stokes wanting to protect his knee. That said, Leech has bowled pretty well.

I thought we let the game drift after tea when Blundell was new at the crease, was a really poor 20 overs where we lost the initiative…….,

Early wicket I never knew all cricket balls were hand made. From the BBC live text: "I was talking to someone about the red balls the other day. All of them are handmade and hand-stitched. They've brought somebody new in to stitch the balls and he doesn't stitch them tight enough. It means moisture get into the balls, so they get soft and lose their shape". Bit harsh blaming one person! Can't be down to one bloke, surely!

We should've bowled these out by now, so frustrating.

This constant repetitive checking of the ball is ridiculous.
That’s twice in the last over they gone through that process of testing the ball goes through that hoop contraption the umpires use.
That’s taking the piss.
Seems like we might need a new rule on this practice. Like, say, you can only ask the umpire to check the ball once every 10 overs.

WTF are England doing.
They’ve just picked up the 7th wicket (at last) and on a overcast Headingley day with the ball moving about we have one slip in place for the number 9.

Bit harsh blaming one person! Can't be down to one bloke, surely! They had the owner of the company that produces the Dukes balls on TMS during the Trent Bridge test. It was fascinating listening to what goes in to making a cricket ball. He was saying that they have used a different dye on the leather this year as the ECB wanted a lighter shade of red and that could potentially be what’s causing the current batch to go out of shape. He also said that they usually like the cow hides to rest for a couple of years before they use them but they haven’t been able to do that recently because of supply issues which could also be another factor.

And there was me thinking the days of us bowling absolute filth to tailenders would end with the change in captain/coach.. how wrong I was.

No idea why Stokes keeps going to this short pitched attack. Try one every now and again yeah, but first pitch it up and try and get them out the conventional way. So frustrating after bowling so well yesterday

Shit bowling, shit catching, shit tactics.
Good old England.
Normal service has been resumed.
This has been a dreadful morning.

Mitchell played well but make no mistake, he should've been gone long before that wicket. Hopefully we come out after lunch and sort our bowling plans out.
I like Potts a lot but Overton isn't doing it for me unfortunately.

Love listening to John Holder and 'Ask the umpire' on TMS. Some of the questions are absolutely ridiculous, but the laws are what make the game great.

I'd have settled for 329 from that pitch and those first day conditions, having lost the toss. Should've been loads better and you should always wait until the second side has batted, but it's not a huge total on what seems to be a decent strip.
It'd be nice if we're not 4 down for less than 100 for a change.
Edit: go away, Crawley, one ridiculous score does not make you a Test player...

Who comes in for the India test though? Ollie Pope as well...good knock at Trent Bridge, but my nan could've scored runs on that. He is all wrong for no. 3

Time for a red ball reset...
I'd bet good money here that Stokes will still be aggressive and try to smack the cover off it. He might get 20 or 30, but he won't last long. England need these two to bat long here not to try and smash everything into the stands...

Wonder what the lowest first innings total is where the side batting second followed on!

Sticking with Crawley and going for Pope at 3 was always likely to end in disappointment.
So it’s sort of hard to be too disappointed.
If that makes sense.
