Was that Prestwich just on tv having a wee snooze? What a day to be at the game? Hey prestwichpotter, been looking forward to a match report from your trip to the Pays Bas. Don’t tell me you slept through all the fireworks. But I do understand if you were discombobulated by the cafe culture.

Don’t tell me you slept through all the fireworks. But I do understand if you were discombobulated by the cafe culture. It was a whirlwind trip and to be honest going to the Pinkpop festival on the Saturday in between the two games was a daft idea I'm too old to be drinking and travelling for 18/20 hours a day. But the atmosphere particularly at the first game was superb and it was great to see a world record innings live. Netherlands were really good in the second match and I was hoping they'd put another 30/40 runs on the board to make it interesting but England's class obviously told. Great city, great country, great cricket ground and a great home crowd. The only downside was a few too many drunken dickheads at the games, everyone likes having a drink and a good laugh but a small minority take it too far as usual. But a minor blip I thoroughly enjoyed it..........

That would be unfortunate.

Preferably on one of those out of the way places. I’m getting old. That said, experiencing a Buttler masterclass would make most things bearable.

You literally couldn’t enjoy the cricket because every minute you were having to get up to let someone through with beer or having your view blocked by someone walking by with beer. They should close the bars when the crickets on as it’s ruining the primary reason you go, namely to watch the match. Rant over.

Captain Morgan is "injured"

Captain Morgan is "injured" He had said he wouldn't be playing in every game this summer as he struggles to cope with too many games in too short a period of time. Which is, of course, concerning noting that World Cups tend to involve plenty of games in a short period of time! I think it's becoming increasingly unlikely he'll be in charge for the ODI WC next year with a serious question about him leading the team in the T20 WC later this year. Father Time is knocking on his door and he doesn't take no for an answer. Anyway, to today's game. Morgan's absence gives an opportunity for (yet) another left hand quick to show what he can do. Good luck to David Payne on debut. The team still looks very strong, arguably stronger with formidable batting down to 8 and 7 bowlers.

I think this is good news - it re-enforces our batting and adds some much needed pace to our attack; I hear he's been bowling at 90mph this season. Shame for Jimmy, but like Morgan he ain't going to be around much longer although, unlike Morgan, he is still performing to a high standard. The end of Anderson / Broad era was always going to present a major challenge, so we need to look at this as an opportunity to help manage the transition to a new era. It's fair to say we haven't done that very well so far, but I think we need to make allowances because it is so hard to get it right.

I think it's definitely time to play only one of Broad/Anderson to allow the likes of Carse, Potts, Overton (Jamie not Craig ) and Robinson (when fit) to develop. That number 8 spot is there for the taking.......

I reckon they'll struggle a little in the remaining overs and end up around 270 which England should knock off without too many problems. I'd be relaxed though with us chasing 350! Edit... they did struggle in the remaining overs. The final 10 overs saw them add just 41 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. 244 ain't going to be anywhere near enough unless England make an absolute arse of the run chase.

So we're effectively going into a home Test with Ben Stokes as our main swing bowler?... interesting.

That was about as comprehensive a victory as you could imagine.
There is a huge gulf between these teams.
Well done to England who were both professional, high quality and provided great entertainment.
A shout out too to the Netherlands for keeping their heads up.
Particularly well done Jos Buttler who, fresh of his IPL success, demonstrated he is the most destructive batsman in white ball cricket in the world today. Brilliant stuff.

Who is this commentator on sky that sounds just like the late great Paul Allott?
It's spooking me out how much it sounds like him, if it wasn't for the live under the skysports cricket logo I'd swear it was an old repeat.
EDIT!
The sun has definitely got to me, it is Paul Allott I've confused him with Bob Willis.

Good toss to win this morning for Williamson. Perfect day for batting, it'll be hard work for our bowlers in this heat. Got to just keep plugging away and try to keep the scoring rate down. Leach will have to bowl a lot of overs and keep one end tight, big match for him.
Just as I type, Broad has Latham nicked off!

Cracking start and could have got Williamson just as well. I feel a 90 all out coming on I've a feeling Williamson is going to come good in this test. Part of me hopes that's true because he is such an elegant batsman. And a good egg too. Edit… well that feeling wasn’t a very good one. He’s gone for 31. And he looked very uncomfortable throughout his knock. Such a shame.

Could (should?) have been 4. Nichols was very lucky that the 3rd umpire felt he got a knick.

I can't believe we didn't review that 🙈 we've bowled well but really should have them 6 down.
