Really good bowling from young Ahmed today, really wanted him to get more runs when batting just to put the cherry on top of a brilliant performance. Duckett got a nice fifty and with only 55 runs needed tomorrow we should stroll to victory. Well done England things are really looking on the up now.

Really good professional performance today even when we weren't getting wickets we were keeping Pakistan in check.
3-0 will be some achievement, winning more games in one series in Pakistan than in our previous history. Roll on the New Zealand tests.......

Amazing series, winning an away series 3-0 against any side is pretty much unheard of these days, doing it in Pakistan is remarkable.
Twelve months ago I was sure I was watching the worst England side of my lifetime, now it looks like I’m watching the best.
Only three games now until the Ashes. It’s going to be a hell of a job picking a side if everyone is fit .

A brilliant three nil victory from the lads. Made it look easy which it certainly is not, especially away from home. Its hard to see anyone beating us in this kind of form.

It is just a shame that we are out of the running for the World Test Championship as the way we are playing, we would have a great chance of being World Champions in all 3 formats. As an old traditionalist, I am very pleased to learn that Rehan Ahmed has turned his back on the IPL in order to work on his game in the County Championship with Leicestershire.

Not too shabby for a few weeks work. I don't really follow the IPL. How does the auction work? Who gets the money?

'As part of Ahmed's management for this winter, the 18-year-old will go to the UAE T20 League in January with a view to joining up with England's white-ball team in Bangladesh in March.'

Probably won’t be much use on New Zealand wickets so he’s honing his skills on the sub continent pitches in preparation for the Bangladesh tour? Makes sense to me

Not too shabby for a few weeks work. I don't really follow the IPL. How does the auction work? Who gets the money? Basically it is as follows: Every team has a wage cap and use that to buy players in the auction, until they either have all the players they want or they have reached their cap. Prior to the auction they can re-sign players they had under contract last year (but again that counts against the cap). Any player can set a reserve minimum salary for themselves, but like any auction risk going unsold and losing out on playing that season. Like any auction you really need 2 or 3 teams to really want a particular player and a player who has set a reserve of £100k can suddenly find themselves being brought for £1m The players get the auction money, so Harry Brook will be paid £1.3m less tax, unless if only signs to play for say the first 4 weeks because of England commitments then it would be pro-rata. It is pretty ruthless and cut-throat. If the player doesn't perform to the level expected for the salary paid, they are likely to find themselves on the shelf for the following IPL.

Wow, that's a decent payday for the young man, isn't it. Approaching footballer level salaries per week for a two month tournament. I see Curran went for $1.85m on the back of his excellent World Cup T20 performances.

Are they resting Root for the ODI series? If not then seem a bit odd to drop him from it?
The Test squad looks good bar Crawley. We really are spoilt for choice with quick bowlers.

Joe Root has been given permission to miss the ODI's with South Africa as he is playing in a T20 franchise tournament in Dubai.

Crisps and popcorn advertising for kids basically.
What happened to using sport to try to get kids more active and healthy? Doesn't send the best message does it.

Exciting finish brewing in the Pakistan NZ match...two wickets to get for NZ then some T20 style batting and they'll be on for the win.
Doubt Pakistan have ever lost four Tests on the spin at home before...

Right up there with our continued refusal to visit Zimbabwe. I disagree. I think Australia have done the right thing and hopefully other countries will follow their lead. It was right to ban South Africa during the apartheid years and it is right to ban Afghanistan so long as they deny basic human rights to half of their population.

Cricket time again folks!
Bit of a strange ODI series to be honest, feels like it's unwanted by both teams but hey ho. 50 over cricket is at a bit of a crossroads so be good to see some fireworks.
Archer being back is the big boost for England, SA win the toss and bat........
