It's great to be world champions again. Of the three big games this weekend, this was the one I really wanted us to win. Shame about the women's rugby and the mens RL but this one matters a lot more. Could you imagine if he’d played for NZ his country of birth. How good would they be?

Without Stokes we wod not have won any of the WCs. Best bit of business we've done 2010?

That’s not my own opinion😉

Ben Stokes
Did he once have a pint of Carling in London or something or does he have an English great great Grandmother?

Ben Stokes Did he once have a pint of Carling in London or something or does he have an English great great Grandmother? His father, Ged Stokes, was a NZ Rugby League player, who got a job over here coaching and brought his family over here with him. I think Ben was only a child at the time so he qualified to play for England on residency grounds. To be fair all his cricketing career has been based in England and he is a product of the English system.

Another heavy defeat to the Aussies though with a much changed side. Let’s hope we get it right for the Ashes and our big guns are well rested.

We threw it away, Vince and Billings were well set and ahead of the run rate, then some absolutely brainless shots from Billings and Curran in particular and good bowling from Stark, Hazelwood and Zampa out paid to that.

This whole only having 6 batsmen thing is really wank.
I know from Woakes they can all bat a bit but Woakes shouldn’t be a number 7.

The Aussies 250/0 and looking at 370/380 here. Whoever agreed this mini series should be sacked………

Why do we keep only picking 6 batsmen? It’s mad.
And even with 5 bowlers they still get smacked around.

The Test touring party hasn’t been picked yet has it? With his first class scores and how good he looks against spin he stands a chance of being in the touring party surely? Him and Harry Brook as the two back up batsmen? Him back up keeper? Duckett won’t be picked, no doubt about it. Brook will go, looks like Root reincarnate Looks like Duckett will open?!?

Makes no sense? Broad ain’t going. They reckon they’re going with 2 seamers, Leach and a part time bowler 🤷♂️

Personally i'd go with Jennings to open rather than Duckett as that's where he bats for his county and has had experience of 20 odd tests batting there too(including the sub continent). However, it does appear Duckett is just ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment. Only reason I can think of is that he got some runs in the T20 series out there. He does worry me though technically as an opener.
Id go with:
Crawley Jennings Pope Root Brook Stokes Foakes Woakes Jacks Leach Anderson

Wisden reckon this:
Crawley Duckett Pope Root Brooks Stokes Foakes Jacks Robinson Anderson Leach
They think Jacks could bat at 7.
It's a lot of work for Robinson who still needs to prove his fitness.
And I wouldn't play Woakes abroad if you can get away with it or its swinging loads.

And I wouldn't play Woakes abroad if you can get away with it or its swinging loads. We deffo look a bowler light to me with Jacks only a part time spinner. Leach hasn't impressed either at home or away. Woakes could've done a job at one end and adds to the batting, but he's played a lot of cricket recently and only came back from injury at the end of the season. It's a tricky one with not having played there for so long. It would've been nice to have a proper spinner in the ranks like Rashid or Parkinson. The pitches in Pakistan recently have given assistance to the pace bowlers though and had a bit of nip and carry. Really looking forward to this series.

Duckett to open. Livingstone at 8 Interesting! Mental It’s asking a lot of fragile Ben Stokes, fitness question marked Ollie Robinson and OAP Anderson isn’t it. Fancy Root over Livingstone bowling too. Hopefully Robinson is fitter now because I do think he’s about our best Test bowler now.

On paper that bowling attack looks like it will struggle. They will attack Livingston, Leach and Root and rightly so.
The selectors have tried to be a bit too clever for their own good I think, but time will tell.......
