Just can’t get into the Hundred. Everything seems so forced. So false. The commentary on Sky is fucking awful. The graphics for the scores are really shite. Shame the fantasy league thing failed as that would have added something. That said, it seems popular enough with crowds. Maybe you have to be there. I’m completely with you there, especially on the forced and false bit. We’ve got the T20 Bash for those who prefer the short format. It’s a completely unnecessary completion and the different over thing does absolutely nothing for me. It’d be like football doing something with say three 20 minute thirds, regional based so like a Manchester team and a London team, it would mean absolutely nothing to genuine football fans.

I think it’s a dishonest tournament. It makes out it is a brand new concept, a radical addition to the game. Which it is, but not for the reasons they say. It’s essentially a T20 game with 5 ball overs. What is radical is it is franchise cricket. Now, if we want a T20 franchise cricket tournament in England (regardless of the number of balls in an over) then that tournament becomes the short format tournament for the summer because we can’t accommodate two T20 tournaments without harming other competitions with the county championship being the obvious loser currently. So, please ECB, stop fucking about. Pick your short format game and go with it. Oh, and another thing this time for Sky. Can you please get Kevin Pietersen to fuck. He is a shit addition to your once glorious but ever diminishing band of outstanding commentators.

Another duck.
A two ball one this time.

On a separate note Harry Brook has just hit a century for the Lions against South Africa at Canterbury, it's criminal if he doesn't get his chance in the test series...... I agree but I think the only way he could get in would be if Root moved up to No.3 to replace Pope. I also think Brook should be in our ODI team. For me he is the obvious choice to replace Eoin Morgan at No.4.

What a game at Edgbaston - right down to the last ball, 6 needed off it to win, Sussex just missed out. Great match.
Cracking century from Pujara just when all seemed lost, he dragged Sussex back into it before being bowled with a couple of overs to go.
£15 for 7 hours entertainment, in the sun and supping ciders watching the action, you can't argue with it. Often think I prefer cricket to football these days! No numpties, no mither.

I went to the hundred game today at Old Trafford and it was really enjoyable.
2 games for 30 quid.
A hat trick.
And a hundred missed out on cos Dawid Malan can’t count 😂

He is a shit addition to your once glorious but ever diminishing band of outstanding commentators. You are absolutely right but the ECB have got themselves into a pickle because they can't scrap The Hundred because it is their pet project and they can't scrap the T20 Blast because about 6 counties will go bankrupt. There is a disturbing rumour circulating that they will create more space in the season by reducing the number of games in the County Championship, which I think would be a terrible move. There is also a rumour that from next year there will be no Test Cricket scheduled for August, so that the England players can play in The Hundred.

I guess the trouble with this format is that if you are out of form, it is difficult to get back into form, as you don't have the luxury of just occupying the crease for a while.

He is an awesome batsman when on song. But, I can’t help thinking the pressure he is under has been exacerbated by his continued presence in the England side. By way of evidence I’ll offer up Eoin Morgan, who looked like he’d forgotten which end of the bat to hold for England but has been smashing the ball to all parts in the Hundred. A break from the pressure of international cricket could well have been a good thing for Roy. Instead the pressure continues to pile on his shoulders.

I just think Morgan lost his focus as he got nearer to giving up the captaincy to be honest. Roy will get his form back, no doubt about it

Well, I've never seen that before on a cricket pitch.
Moeen proper skied one, Malan moved to catch it, lost it in the lights then stood there covering his head while the ball landed three yards away!
Was the Stokie in the crowd anyone off here?!

Was the Stokie in the crowd anyone off here?! There was a brilliant moment in one of the Lancs Royal London One Day cup games last week. Batsman nicked off and keeper takes the catch. He throws the ball in the air in celebration, then quickly realises that the ball is about to potentially land on the batsmans head, so sprints towards him to catch it again and it just lands and misses him by inches 😂

Thank the Cricketing God's that Test Match Cricket is back today !!
With every passing year my interest in the shorter formats of the game is diminishing rapidly. If Test Cricket ever goes to the wall for all this crash bang wallop bollocks, I'd probably stop watching.

Forecast for the following 4 days is good though.

We're batting...
We've lost both openers inside 10 overs...
Great to have test cricket back..

50-3 so standard start from us. This South African attack looks extremely dangerous.
I don’t think their batting looks particularly strong on paper though so if we can get up to 270 it might not be a bad score.

100-5 at lunch
On the bright side, 100 is a pretty good score to post on the first morning of a test series.
Equally, great to have got a full morning play considering how poor the weather forecast is.
Great also to see Pope unbeaten on 50.
On the other hand, we've probably lost a few more wickets than we would have liked.

Even though it looks like Stokes got a good one, he's still persisting with this brain dead charging down the pitch every 3 balls to try and smack the bowler out of the ground 🤦♂️

against this standard of bowling English batsmen would be 3 or 4 wickets down by now.

I think England’s new theme song for the new era of Bazball should be…
You Sexy Thing (I believe in miracles)
only with the words “believe in” being replaced by “rely on”.
